Red.fans Bash Pics - Charleston

Where do I start? First of all, I thoroughly enjoyed the trip to the low country as I was able see some folks from the past, as well as some new folks. Being with my Johnnies partisan was as fun as the games.

The people whom I've previously met and "bumped into" again as follows: my "partner in internet crime" mjmaherjr (and his significant other), Red Storm Rising, and Beast. It was really good to see y'all again.

I was able to place faces with numerous pseudonyms: Panther (the infamous one), RedStormNC (and his significant other), NYCRedmen, Anthony Mattia and his brother, Truckie, SJU Dave, gabelmc, espken (who snuck up on me as if he had previous beef, lol), the tux (he and his friend, Jim.... Jim's NY accent is thicker than Velveeta cheese and he loves the Ivy caps like myself, lol) frankingeneral (his Twitter handle), Theo Rabinowitz, PharvePhan (Twitter handle), and several others who I don't believe are on the site.

I believe my girlfriend had as much fun as myself, as together we had a ball! Once RedstormRising told her the Johnnies will be in the Bahamas next season, she said, "We're going!" 😄

Before I end this post, I will say the players on the team not only demonstrate team spirit and love for their fellow brother, but they seem like extremely considerate young men. RedstormRising, NYCRedmen, Anthony Mattia, his brother, and my girlfriend greeted numerous players as they were heading to the bus last night. They couldn't have been more polite. We also caught Pitino heading to the bus and he graciously took a picture with us, as well as thanked us and fellow fans for attending.

I surmise one particular fan (I'm not sure if he's on the site, but he was sporting a red Soriano jersey) has gained another Johnnies fan in his household as his nine year old son garnered signatures from players, assistant coaches, and, of course, Pitino. The lil fella was super excited and he probably can't wait to show it off to his relatives and friends.

Lastly, I think Jenkins may have a "super fan," as some lady was about to "lose herself" when he walked past us last night towards the bus. If she has a man and he's on this site.... Keep your eyes on her
whenever Jenkins is in the vicinity, lol.

All in all, it was a heckuva trip meeting so many (great) people and the team possibly shaping themselves into the bunch we think they can be.

I look forward to seeing many of y'all again soon.
Great post, Mr. Dinkins, and great photo of you and Coach Mahoney (a great guy!), and a great game against Utah. Sorry I couldn't be there. Would've loved to have met my fellow Redmen -- although I did have the pleasure of briefly meeting MJM at the Big East tourney a few years ago. (For the record, due to a technical glitch, I've been posting as redken1, but I'm the same redken who's been on board for a long time -- long enough to recognize a lot of those names in your post and disappointed I didn't get to meet them, including you.)

Great to meet up with some of the guys last night. Unfortunately I missed the bash as I spent most of Saturday in Columbia.
Damn Espken.. i asked about you saturday and had no idea you were in charleston . Is that you in the puc you posted ? Which one? Next time

Yeah, it was a last second trip for me knowing I would have to miss Saturday and the pep rally tickets were no longer available anyway. Heard Uptown Social was awesome. That’s me on the far right with the vintage redmen.com shirt provided by the webmaster himself many years ago(Thanks Paul). I’ll be flying up to NY to visit my daughter and we’ll be going to Boston College game. So maybe I’ll see you or any of the guys there at Barclays.

What an amazing weekend! I finally got to meet some of the great people I talk to on this incredible fan forum (thank you Paul). I am sure I am going to leave some people off of this list because everyone was a new meet for me, so please forgive me if I leave you off. First 2 guys I met and watched the N. Texas game with were Tux and Truckie. What great guys to start the trip with and watch a game with. We did make a mistake and sat mid court across from the benches so we didn't meet any of the other guys until the first post game.

Once we got there, I met our social chairman MJM. Truly a great guy who makes you feel like you've known him your entire life, and then starts introducing you to everyone else. Thanks for that Mike. Sal was passing out shots, I met Beast there, and alumi hall and Jorge (sorry guys, i got some screen names and some real ones) Met Redstormrising and nycredmen here, and then watched the next 2 games with them!

Friday night I met RedstormNC, and obviously being another NY transplant we hit it off immediately. Then I met mjdinkins and got completely shocked that he was from SC born and raised! (Sorry if that wad a secret Dink) He is such a cool dude and he and I had so many of the same views on the team past and present it was like he was in my head. Lol. Really enjoyed meeting him and Angie, as well as Natalie.

Got to meet ESPKEN after the last game and he is a super nice guy too.

Sorry this was so long, it was just so great to meet everyone and I can't wait to see you all again. Who knows, maybe in NYC around Christmas, but now that I know what I'm missing when you all get together I really want to be there when I can. Can't say enough how amazing everyone was/is. Stay safe fellas, happy Thanksgiving, and of course, GO JOHNNIES!!!

Was my pleasure and awesome meeting you guys. You brought up a great point I literally can’t say this enough times but Paul starting Redmen.com to me is Redmen Hall of Fame stuff. This weekend as awesome as it was never happens to a fraction of what it was without Paul. One of us probably posted this pic but heck my mind is fried from not sleeping enough

Great post Dinkins. You summed it up perfectly. Great weekend and enjoyed meeting everyone.

Hi. It was great reaquanting with some of you and meeting many of you. I apologize for my weak a$$ post game...not the fact that I can't score in the paint - but how I never made it out to the bar with you after the games and school event. Thanks for the great restaurant recommendations those of you in the know posted in the other thread. They did not disappoint. My mother came with me and turned 90 the day of the North Texas game. She had a blast! I'll have fond memories of Charlston and of you guys always. Best, Carmine

While I never made it to the bash, I had the opportunity to meet several posters in the stands. It was great to put faces to the many names on the site. Sitting by, and watching Dave lead the cheers showed me he’s more than just a pod cast guy but a true fan as well. Since I traveled from Florida and don’t get to see many games live, it was a great opportunity to catch the team with great seats without spending a fortune. See you all at the Yukon game.

I too missed some of the events, but I hope I met some of y'all (charleston lingo) around the hotel, town and games on Friday and Sunday. A wonderful weekend all around, punctuated by a nice performance by the team against Utah that could be the coming out party of ledlum and dingle who had great games.
