Realistic best case scenario for 2021 class?

Honestly, this is the most money we've paid a staff, even with what we paid Lavin and Mullin,
. . . and slice? ;)
I refer referring to the overall staff budgets, not just the HC position.
I didn’t see Rysheed Jordan’s name as a Lavin recruit of high ranking . Just saying . He had a disappointing and short career here but , was a big talent . As far as Coach Anderson , he has a style that has been successful elsewhere but , never to the top of the Leagues his Teams were in . Good Records but , no Championships . He seemingly has a good idea of what type of players will fit in his system and recruits accordingly. Herron might have been a good fit but , he was injured most of the season . Candidly , while I like Figgy , I don’t think he fits in CMA’s style ., Rutherford is the type of Player that CMA likes . Only trouble is he was a poor shooter and finisher . He was a demon on defense and a good ball stealer . Fun to watch , except for all the missed bunnies . Heady too. We’ll see how the Recruiting goes this and next year . And , what are CMA’s Goals ? Make us a 4 -5 th place BE Team or a Contender ? We have been so conditioned to accept Mediocre results vs Bad Results but , is that the Bar to set ? Mediocrity ? I hope not .
CMA won a share of the conference championship in the old CUSA (Calipari, Huggins, Pitino, Crean, Bobby Lutz, even Latieo) when he was at UAB. Finished only second to calipari in SEC wins at Arkansas. Don’t let the firing fool you... CMA really has won everywhere he’s been. He’s due a big tourney run soon. I think next year honestly. Sneaky good roster, lots of returners, good talent coming in.. as soon as the new guys adjust its off to the races. We’ll compete to win the Big East next year. Going to miss Rutherford though.. man he was our energizer.

I agree that many are underestimating this class especially if Figueroa returns. Our guard depth is crazy good. I was happy to see Rasheem Dunn flourish in a major role and he will provide incredible quality depth next season. He made Thomas Jefferson High proud.

The list of TJHS alums that became pro athletes is impressive. 9 played in the NBA. (Jack "Dutch" Garfinkel, Boris Nachamkin, Max Zaslofsky, Sid Tannenbaum, Harry Boykoff, Leroy Ellis, Phil Sellers, Sidney Green and Jimmy McMillan) Tony Jackson played in the ABA. Of course recently we had the pleasure to see Shamorie Ponds play for us.

Then there’s Riddick Bowe (heavyweight champ), John Brockington (Green Bay Packers), Otis Wilson (Chicago Bears), Shawon Dunston (Chicago Cubs) and Dorian Daughtry (Seattle Mariners). Daughtry is also in the TJHS Hall of Shame. He was convicted of muredring a 9 year old girl)

TJHS is not too shabby when it comes to musicians. Steve Lawrence, Sharon Jones, Roy C. Bennett (he wrote a slew of songs including Red Roses for a Blue Lady and Glad All Over) Linda November and Sylvia Fine to name a few.

You want actors? Shelly Winters, Jimmy Smits and Al Lewis. (Danny Kaye amd Al Lewis would have been on the list but they never graduated).

Wall Street Successes? How about Lloyd Blankfein (former CEO of Goldman Sachs).

I think Dunn will flourish next season. He knows what he needs to work on.

Very impressive list

It seems to me as of the early days of Coach Anderson and his recruiters we are ( already )
1. Not having to beg recruits to join the Red Storm
2. More quality recruits are at least considering SJU because we are becoming an acceptable destination
3. A widespread net is being cast w local HS players, out of state players, JUCOs and transfers.
It’s a nice direction in which we have already begun to travel

Stay safe
The best to you and your loved ones

We need to start getting some 4 star top 100/150 talent, just to show we are capable of attracting that level of talent. Every other Big East team has done that during the past year or 2. We're the only ones not pulling in top 100 high school talent. Creighton, Seton Hall, Butler, even DePaul (2021) are out recruiting us.

Nearly all of us (myself included) are encouraged by the ending to our season, but if that 23-0 run to close out Georgetown (the 8th place team missing half of their players) didn't happen then how optimistic would we be? We still finished 9th. Recency bias is especially strong this year because for the first time in decades (NIT championship) we didn't lose our final game.

I like what I've seen from CMA and staff, but recruiting is one area we need to improve upon. I'm not saying we need 5 star high school talent, but we do at least need 4 star high school talent. Hopefully 2021 is when we'll start seeing that.

I happened to check Posh's current ranking on ESPN's recruiting site and he shows as a 4 star with an 80 rating. The #100 ranked kid shows as a four star with 81 ranking so I am guessing Posh is ranked around 125 by ESPN after an impressive senior season. Agree we should be able to land kids in 50-150 range going forward and trust staff will land their share.
