Realistic best case scenario for 2021 class?
Riley
Cuffe (reclassifies)
A big. Any big

Thoughts?
I think your guess is as good as any at this point. Staff landed a nice mixed class this year but I think we are all still waiting to see what they can do landing decent ranked high school players.

My top choice would be Ike Cornish from Legacy in South Carolina. Finally someone who can shoot, not these guards who highlights show endless dunks. Cornish is a 4 star, good size, 6 five and has a complete game.

Unlikely imo.

No inside info at all, so tell me if i'm wrong, but the only guy at this point I would bet we get is G - Dashawn Davis. I feel like it just makes too much sense. First off, Davis is a JUCO, and with Champagnie being the only Junior on the roster for 2021, you gotta believe the staff is going after at least 1-2 JUCO's for 2021. Secondly, Davis is from the Bronx, committed to Seton Hall out of high school, so he has no problem with staying local, and seems to be good friends with Alexander and Wusu, who are also out of the Bronx. On top of that, Cleveland and Demeo follow him on twitter. I don't know how good his region or divison is, but his Freshman JUCO numbers are also pretty impressive, 21.3PPG - 6.1APG - 4.1RPG - 36% 3PT. Seems like a top 10-15 JUCO. I see the 2021 class being around probably 4 players total. Wouldn't mind 2 JUCO's and 2 Freshman again. But, who knows, a lot can change.

He's definitely eager to come here. Remember he was eager to come here before popping for Seton Hall.
However I think he falls behind Riley to me. And further down as well if Cuffe comes back into 21 class. In addition some other 21 guys I'd prefer before.

Again as of now the 21 class is 3 ships. They are pegged to replace

LJ (or maybe not depending on if he leaves or stays or if a grad replaces him)
Dunn
Toro

Then there are any possible departures or the possibility of someone graduating as I think we have a few who can graduate next year before their eligibility expires.

Obviously caraher comes to mind as a graduate candidate following next season but not sure who else Could have that option.

Thank you. Lavin kind of killed it. Mullin's staff did pretty well also despite the Matt/Slice drama. If Lavin had 5 years of recruiting like that, he'd likely still be here, and perhaps we'd have a bunch of deep runs in the dance.

I think we’ll have 5-6 open spots for 2021. Guys will graduate early and transfer. Anderson will really focus on nailing the 2021 class IMO. One thing we won’t have to worry about is this staff will not be outworked.

Bottom line though is as as far as coaching goes, Mike Anderson blows those guys out of the water imo overall. Lavin had his successes but always with a ton of talent. I’d like to see Mike Anderson get the talent level to get him and SJU to the next level. We shall see if he can do it.

It's kind of hard to judge recruiting by recruiting site rankings; need to see how the recruits perform at college level as we've seen over and over again that high school rankings are not always predictive of how they'll do. I'm willing to bet that Posh will perform comparably with Lovett for us and Cole will be a better college player than Ahmed despite Ahmed having higher JC ranking. We'll see.
Having said that, Lavin did have a great recruiting year with the Harkless/Pointer/Harrison/Greene class.

Anderson is a very good coach but he wasn't torched the way Lavin and Mullin would have been for a couple of our last minuute collapses. Im close with some Missouri and Arkansas natives, saw them last summer and all said the same thing, good coach , doesn't recruit well. We shall see.

As I have posted many times, even before he came here I always thought that Lavin teams performed as less than the sum of their parts.

As I have said before CMAs three prior jobs were in states that were anything but a basketball hotbed. CMAs first two classes have been very solid but unspectacular. He is the Anti Lavin in every respect and his recruiting classes reflect his demeanour and personality, far more substance than style and I for one can certainly live with that. Having said that I expect that he will continue to bring in very solid classes which will improve in talent level given that he is now in a far more fertile recruiting area.

Next two recruiting cycles should provide a good gauge of this staff’s ability to get quality players in addition to the performance of the 2020 group. Three periods seems a fair test.

No doubt, CMA can coach, the culture is solid and staff is talented and experienced. Hopefully the recruiting piece will also be high quality.
