Have we ever secured a recruit from Oak Hills Academy? For some reason I don't think so.

I think Tarik Turner might have been from there if I remember correctly

Yes, he averaged 7 ppg and 7 apg there as a senior. Not sure if he transferred in from another Virginia high school or not.

He transferred from a high school out of Charlottesville, VA, if I'm not mistaken.

That sounds right. No clue what his pre-Oak Hill stats were though.

No offense to TT, but we would have been much better off if Kareem Reid had had any interest in coming.

What concerns me is that none of the top 2014 recruits that I have read indicate a lean towards us

Also from what I viewed in the film that was posted he does not seem all that quick to the basket .only seen a two handed duck not a bad stroke Not as athletic as many of our current players Of course would like to see One needs to view much more tape and see him in person against top players before a judgment can be reached Would like to have him in the fold thou

Reid had interest but Turner was already coming. Turner played in the backcourt at Oak Hill with Curtis Staples (UVa.)

What a terrible PG. Swap him for Reid or Shaheen Halloway and things would have ended up much different.

We tried for Halloway but he didn't want to stay in NYC. Reid exploded that year at St. Raymonds but there were still questions about him including his size. I do recall there was some reaching out by both sides around the McD game which was held at what was then known as Alumni Hall.

Reid wound up with Arkansas, but sat his Freshman year as a Prop. I think BE still allowed "Prop. 48s" kids back then.

As an aside, McD AA guards that year included Staples, Chris Herren, Steve Wojochowski (sic), Trajan Langdon and the Reed kid that went to Indiana.

I know Fran tried to get involved with Thomas that year, but we got in too late. Imagine Holloway and Thomas on the team with Lopez and Hamilton. . .
