Daly, Kearney-Perry Earn NSCAA All-America Honors

Dec. 4, 2015

NSCAA Release

QUEENS, N.Y. - Just a day after being named to the NSCAA All-Region First Team, Rachel Daly and Georgia Kearney-Perry have received one of college soccer's most distinguished honors, as both have been named NSCAA All-Americans.

Daly earned a spot on the All-America First Team, the first player in program history to receive the honor. Kearney-Perry garnered a place on the All-America Second Team, the second player in program history to earn the accolade.

Daly, who was a Second Team All-American in 2013 when she led the nation in scoring, is one of just eight All-Americans to be earning the honor for at least the second time. This season, Daly ranked third in the NCAA in scoring with 19 goals and helped the Red Storm put up its best record in program history. Led by Daly, the Red Storm registered a record a of 15-4-1, including a 7-1-1 showing in conference play, and captured the team's first-ever BIG EAST Regular Season Championship. This fall, Daly registered five multi-goal games, including the third hat trick of her career against Creighton on Oct. 11.

The Harrogate, England, native became the Red Storm's all-time leader in every major offensive category this season, breaking program records for goals (50) and points (111). She became only the second person in St. John's Soccer history, men's or women's, to reach the half-century mark. Huey Ferguson, a two-time All-American and BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, recorded 50 for the men's side from 1991-94. Daly accomplished the same feat in just three years.

In addition to her All-American nod, Daly was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year for the second time in her career and found a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team for the third time in as many seasons. A standout in the classroom as well as on the pitch, Daly became the fourth player in program history to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American.

The most prolific defensive player to ever lace up her cleats on Belson Stadium, Kearney-Perry punctuates a stellar career at St. John's with her first national honor. A two-time BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and a three-time selection to the All-BIG EAST First Team, Kearney-Perry was an integral part of the Red Storm's success that allowed the team to secure two NCAA Tournament berths in the last three seasons.

This past season, the Tring, England, native captained the Red Storm backline to its finest performance in school history, as the team set a new program record with 12 clean sheets on the year. As a team, the Red Storm ranked in the top 20 in the NCAA in both goals against average (0.64) and shutout percentage (.600).

A shutdown one-one-one defender and unquestioned team leader, Kearney-Perry's contributions to the Red Storm go way beyond the stat sheet. At times, however, Kearney-Perry has proved able to make her mark on offense, scoring three career goals in the BIG EAST Tournament.
