Quote Function

I managed to figure it out but I'm not exactly good at teaching.  It seems like most are struggling with the quote function.  For the benefit of everyone can someone give the masses a little tutorial on the new quote function?

I had PM'd Paul recently to ask if it was a glitch.  He told me it was part of some software upgrades and he's in touch with the developers to try to fix it but it could be a while.

I haven't figured it out enough to explain right way with the current option.

To me, I think it's better to not use the quote option at all.  Saves a ton of time scrolling.  I realize I may be in the minority on that.

But if you have to use the quote function click at the bottom and a dotted line ending in a red return symbol will pop up.  Click the return then type your message below it.

Also if you could delete the messages that don't relate to what you want quoted that helps shorten the posts.

Like this

Seems very hard to get/keep the red line up. Not sure if it's because I'm on a mobile device or I just haven't figured it out fully.

Yes it's related to a software upgrade.

Yes it sucks.

Yes Paul is aware of it and options are being considered.

Yes Austour's advice was correct.

One work-around is to just block-and-copy the post you want to quote.  One nice side-effect of that is that it would limit the 87 quote-chain that ends up in a lot of posts.

But hopefully a better solution will be found.

1) Hit quote button
2) Click somewhere in comment. I've been doing it right after the quoted comment, but I assume you can click anywhere.
3) A red line will appear. Click the square box with the bent arrow on the right side of the line.
4) start typing your comment.

I think I will need you to still show me. Can you book a trip to Sag Harbor soon ? I'll pay you back with a lobster roll :)

TBH, I've also just used copy and paste to include all or parts of prior post I'm responding to. Makes it simple and just requires adding "xxx wrote" at the top. But I'm technology challenged lol.

I agree with NCJohnny, scrolling and scrolling through quotes, is a pain, we like the posts without quotes.

Maybe we're in the minority.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but any post with "XXX" in it is gonna catch my eye. Speaking of which, some of the ads on here are better then the ones on Pornhub lol

Heartbreaking loss.  Still a successful season.  Probably go to NIT.  And on the right trajectory up, for sure

While we're at it can we demote those who can't use the quote function properly /media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

And those who copy 20 previous posts in their reply? ;-)

First off let me thank Paul for this site and for all his hard work and that of you Moderators.

I do have a request. Can we move the Stef Smith  thread and the Nyiwe threads to the top of the 2021 Recruits section and delete "STJ Verbal" that is next to Traore's name since he and all the others at the top have signed a LOI?

(Okay, so it two requests, so shoot me /media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png)
I count 3 requests :)

I could blame it on the Hibiki, but I don’t think I had started drinking it until later that evening.  I’ll just chalk it up to being a long day.

One more day until real games start at the ballpark in the Bronx!  (I added that up correctly right? /media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png)
