Question:Did you get your money's worth this year?

This question is for season ticket holder's only, and since it's personal, there isn't a right or wrong answer.

For the last three years of the previous regime, I had an increasing feeling that I was throwing money away, and I cared more bout winning or losing than St. john's did. finally after the fifth season of NR, I cancelled my tix after more than three decades. I did find myself spending almost an equal amount on single game tix, and renewed immediately when Lavin was hired.

I'm as disappointed as everyone on here, but do feel we played a very competitive schedule. So my question is, for season ticket holders only, is, do you feel you got your money's worth for tickets this year?

Let's try not to turn this thread ugly, but I am curious to hear all responses.

I think I got my money's worth. I love college basketball and always enjoy going back to campus. Also can't beat having good seats at the Garden 10 times a year. If I was on a limited budget my answer may be different because I think 325 for the worst seat in the house is a little steep. Also, it irks me that season ticket holders don't get the best seats available.

You seem to be wanting people to answer the question in the context of a comparison to the Norm years.

By all means, no. I added that to illustrate that in my own frustration in the past I felt I reached the breaking point in feeling I wasn't getting my money's worth. Sorry for the confusion. It's an objective question, did you feel you got your money's worth as a season ticket holder. did you?

For your edification, I am not asking if you are happy with the end result or not, I'm simply asking if you feel you got your money's worth for your season tix this season.

I didn't get that at all, Beast.

I kind of agree with SJU11Redmen. I too enjoy college basketball. St. John's is my alma mater, so I really root hard for them, much harder than nay pro team I root for. And I too enjoy going on campus and watching games at the Garden. My seats in both arenas are pretty good; not right on top of the court, but close enough. My wife enjoys coming tot he games with me and occasionally my son will come to a game at the Garden.

While this season was disappointing, the bottom line answer to your question for me is; Yes, I do feel that I got my money's worth this year.

I do the storm saver package which is a good deal. So my answer is Yes. If I was buying the regular season ticket package my answer would be NO

Yes- 5 games. 3 MSG, 1 in Philly and 1 in Barclay. 2W and 3L in those games, in every game until the last 90 seconds. Worth $60 per seat I paid. Family had fun as well.

Don't need to hesitate for even a nano second. The answer is YES.

Always have a great time at the games (Obvioulsy an even better time when we win).

Have met a great number of terrific people over the year's which has been a great bonus, including NYC, Salty Dog, MJ, Moose, Otis, Simply Red, Matt, and Beast among many others.

Even though I am the only alumnus in my extended family, we all root for St. John's.

My tickets and The Delta Club are not inexpensive, by any stretch, but I most definitely feel I get my money's worth.

As a season ticket holder since 1971, I don't know what I would do without St. John's basketball.

No there is no way I can say I got my money's worth as far as enjoyable games. Sometimes I think back to Lavin's first year and the last second basket in the Pitt game and recall the excitement in the Garden. That was my moneys worth. This year? Watching a team fail and choke? Nope

I gave up my season tickets two years ago because my daughter couldn't make every game due to her teaching schedule. Also, she is a PhD candidate at SJU and could get student tickets. As a result, I have missed some games. When I had the season tickets, I never missed a game. I have to return to being a season ticket holder.

Amazing parallels Beast...based on previous back and forth, you and I were at the school at about the same time, both went to Kentucky but left ticked off before the Nova-GT game...I too, gave up my tickets after 34 years at the end of the NR era (regretted it as I had fantastic seats) after sending Monasch an eMail asking why he would extend Norm before the end of the season given no progress and recruits...also re-enlisted when Lavin came on board...

Tickets aren't cheap and I question whether the athletic department recognizes the lack of fan support as a problem...but, for me, I am all-in as long as I can...Met/Giants/Rangers/Knicks fan since a kid...but the Redmen are my team!

Went to Kentucky in 1985 and stayed (along with my father, wife and best friend) for the Nova game. One of the best sporting events I have ever attended.

Wow, congrats on your dedication. One question. Has the school ever acknowledged your dedication? After 43 years of support, a break in cost would be appropriate.

I'm as critical as anybody probably, but I definitely felt I got my money worth this season. The games were enjoyable, and we were competitive in almost every home game. (Except Xavier). I don't have as much of an issue with the start times as some, that doesn't bother me much. But I would've liked to see another competitive out of conference opponent at home.
Syracuse was great, but we could've used one more marquee OOC game. And I went to two of the Brooklyn games, which I'm fine with, but even those opponents weren't very exciting.

Criticisms of the program aside, I enjoy the games, and the tickets are a relatively good value.

Yes but it was beyond frustrating having less than 7 thousand in huge games vs Creigthon and Xavier and having Cuse and Nova fans take over the area in 2 huge losses.

We need to figure out a way to get more season ticket holders and build this fan base. Perhaps that means lowering the prices or coming up with some sort of season ticket holder appreciation effort.

The team also needs to start the year better next season so casual fans don't lose interest. A better out of conference home schedule and reduction of the Sunday night and 9 pm start times wouldn't hurt either.

Were you good friends with a tall guy with glasses named Ken?

I love going to the games, so yes. With the loss of some big name schools I would like to see a tougher out of conference schedule at MSG. I'm not sure why we do the home and away with SU - just schedule every year at MSG (figure out the revenue details). It seems it would be more beneficial for both sides.

Absolutely. Living in the Hartford are without a car getting to NY isn't the easiest thing in the world to do. With that said I made it down for 7 games this year including are game in Providence. As a fan i feel like it is partially my responsibility to get my money's worth, When the team gets down that's when we are supposed to get up and push this team. Far too many times this year I've seen other teams go on a run against us and the crowd just never get back into the game. As a player that has to be tough. This team showed resiliency this whole year on many different occasions, without the crowd support that made me proud to call myself a Johnnies fan. The Georgetown game this year was the most fun I think I may have ever had at a St. John's game. We had 20 wins which we all should learn to appreciate a little more. St. John's basketball is my favorite sports team pro or college and honestly I don't even think about the money when I go to the games, as long as I'm in the building!
