What's going on with Coles game! Frankly has been a disappointment. Thought he would be shooting better and thought he would have been able to go to the rim a lot. Haven't seen much improvement being made.

Cole had 4 consecutive double figure scoring games against Utah Valley, Depaul, Marquette & Villanova and it looked like he was relaxing and getting into the flow of BE basketball. Against the physical PC he didn't play much (16 minutes) and last game he struggled to find shots. Bottom line is like many of our players (Moore, Earlington, Roberts & even Greg to some extent although with him that is at least partially due to injury) he has had good moments but has also sturggled to find consistency. Work in progress imho

The physicality of Big East play seems a problem for Cole and hopefully in off season he will hit the weight room. His handle imo also needs tightening. His jumper can be a weapon, so no sense throwing towel in on him. Give Greg most of his minutes now, however.

What will probably decide the fortunes of SJU for the rest of the season is that either Williams or Cole play up to their potential,  that is what they have shown in their better games and do it ona consistent basis. Champagnie and Posh need that third consistent scorer.
If both can rise to the occasion then SJU could really surprise.

Sounds like a plan, just thought with his rep from juco would have been more productive. But he is definitely a player to work on

See the flip side of it is, we have actually been holding our own with rebouding for the most part. And these teams who have bigs, the bigs still have to play defense on our smaller players, so that gives us an advantage on the other end.

I'm actually totally fine letting an opposing big take a ton of shots and score 20-25 points, while neutralizing their outside game. I'd rather see that than a team light us up all night from the 3 point line.

You aren't wrong - rebounds were more or less even against UConn, Marquette, Nova and even Providence (31-27).  And there's something to be said for playing the mismatch to your advantage, especially if you're trading big-man 2s for shooter 3s.

However we got outrebounded by DePaul 45-35 and by Butler 37-28.  I'm just suggesting that there are some games when there's an adjustment that could be made that might help with that.  And it isn't just the rebounding numbers, it's to try to stop the bleeding where the other team scores inside at will and we have to depend on creating turnovers to compete.  It would be nice to be able to compete straight up against a team with a post game, or at least try to.

Roberts hasn'been a whirlwind guarding the opposition's center, in fact he is quick to pick up fouls. And has anybody noticed he never gets the jump ball at the beginning of the game. Interestingly, Champagnie did at the start of overtime against Butler.

Not sure if it's the shoulder or lack of conditioning from the injury, but Robert look less explosive to me.  I rememberlast year in an interview he and Anderson were joking around that he prefers dunking tio blocking shots.  Haven't seen to many explosive dunks this year from him.

Seeing Freemantle at the beginning of this UCONN game makes me think "How the hell are we gonna stop him!" :-o

Feel the same about Uconn's Akok.

Freemantle will get his much like Nate Watson did. The key is to neutralize everyone else.

We have every right to be pissed off too blowing the Butler game.

Yes,I mentioned that before,I think by putting up his hand it takes awayfrom his vertical lift.
The Statue of Liberty?

Bryan Griffin of Xavier will not be available on Tuesday. He had 7 points, 8 rebounds in 15 minutes last time SJ faced X.

Hopefully the way we did the first game, holding him to 5 freee throws.  We will have to do better with our turnovers at their place, having garnered 16 to their 18.

It's discouraging that Georgetown blew by Butler 78-63. I hope the Johnnie's watched that game. Maybe it will light a fire under them against Xavier.

They'll need all the motivation they can find to play Xavier. I agree Xavier will have a chip on their shoulder. The loss to UConn stings. I'm looking forward to a hard fought and competitive game.

Go Johnnie's.

St. John's at home over Xavier 78 to 77 with a 51% chance of victory

Friendly rims and knowing the dead spots on the floor (this is no Hinkle), we suffocate them and shoot crisply, and win by 6-8 points.
