(PRE-GAME) Xavier, Tues., Feb. 16, 8:30p, FS-1 / 970AM WNYM

This game is no lock to be played.  Xavier has played once since January 10th (a win at Butler, ironically).

With the UCONN game unlikely to be made up, that would be 2 home games lost on the schedule.  It's kind of tough to put a good record together when that happens, especially since it looks like we will play all conference road games.

That's why, as tough as tonight was, the team has done a solid job overall, just to be 7-7.

Obviously, that's a good sign, but a lot can happen in a week.

that is a key reason why I have been saying they should not play the BE tournament (and all conference tournaments) for that matter, so the regular season can be finished.  and will be safer too to keep the exisiting season protocols in place.

In the first game against Xavier only Champagnie and Dunn scored in double figures. And we were brutally outrebounded 57 to 40 - ouch!
We will win this game at home. Once again we have to stop guys like Carter and Freemantle from easy putbacks.

Hopefully, a week off from competition will allow CMA to make the necessary fixes before Xavier.

And Greg to be able to get more practice time to get fully up to speed perhaps.

I hope Greg does not become that guy that we talk about years from now of what could have been. He can be such a positive and contributing member of the team. Get healthy fast Greg!! We need you.

It is pretty simple:
Fox will get better advertising dollars for tournament games than regular season games

there was no chance in hell they weren't playing the tournament

I hope Greg Williams can play significant minutes against Xavier. The Johnnie's need him. I think the Johnnie's have a fairly good chance against Xavier. They'll win if Greg can play full strength.

He reminds me of Corliss Williamson. Big guy and part of Nolan Richardson and Mike Anderson's 1994 NCAA Championship team. He fought through multiple back injuries in college. His NBA career was up and down as his back continued limiting his playing time.

Greg Williams has a lot of potential. I hope he finally recovers from his injury. He could be a major factor in the last five games of the season.

Go Johnnie's!

A must win.

week to prepare
on our home floor
beating Xavier is long overdue

go get it done
Can someone give me some hope that we actually have a shot to win this game? We seem to never beat Xavier and never come close.

The win over Villanova has told us to expect the unexpected.

As we have seen, teams with any type of serviceable Big (Depaul/Marq/Prov...etc)- they feast on us. Granted, we have won those games, so may not be a bad thing- but Xavier offers two skilled options in the post with Carter/Freemantle (the latter who hit that game winner at MSG last year.... LIRR home was tough).

What I am getting at- is it would be interesting to see a line-up with both Roberts and Moore (for size purposes)- allows Moore to play his more natural position at the 4 and moves Champ out to the 3. Now I am sure there is a reason Coach hasnt experimented with this, but in my amateur opinion- it be interesting to roll out a lineup of Posh/Healthy Greg/Champ/Moore/Roberts.

First game vs Xavier, it was after our long layoff and both teams looked real rusty. Xavier has had our number for a couple years now- each game down the stretch is going to be a real good test.

we should beat Xavier, law of averages, baby.

Oh wait, those law of averages didn't work in the last game, the loss in Hinkle for the umpteenth time.

Like Al Davis, used to say:

"WIN, BABY, WIN!"
