We will be facing a team with a high degree of confidence, especially after what they're doing to Nova right now. But, we are just as confident and it's on our court. It'll be a tough game, but we win this one in a close one.
And, they’ll be coming to the Carn’!
For all intents and purposes, Thursday is "Senior Night" for Shamorie. Last home game at Carnesecca Arena, look for him to come out firing on all cylinders
Not sure about this year but in the past we would also do “Senior Night” the last game on campus also.

Watched X lay the wood on nova in the second half. They turned the cats into a desperation 3 point shooting team that couldn't hit anything and was harassed into taking heaves late in the shot clock. Forget quette, right now I think X is the hottest team in the BE and we have to play them twice. Going into the games, I wasn't worried about nova or the hall at MSG, I'm worried about X, they're like the friars on steroids.

Xavier, as noted by many, has big interior guys, but looking at other side of ledger SJU thrives on pressuring guards and jumping passing lanes. The Xavier PG is very average and turns ball over a bit. Johnnies coming up with steals and turnovers fuels the scoring, so perhaps SJU advantage there. Like us at CA Thursday.

Four games are guaranteed to us. If we win 2 we are in the NCAA. I will feel better with a win on Thursday. I think we can do it.

That didn't work against the friars.

Nobody showed up against the Friars. I'm also glad that I never watched the first Friar loss.

To lock in on a solid seeding, we need to win 2 of next 3 if possible. A couple BET wins wouldn’t hurt either. That’s said, we control our own destiny here. It needs to be a nasty environment at CA. Our best bet at beating Xavier is certainly at home.

I want to see how much playing time Keita, Williams, Roberts, Trimble and Earlington get. We may have some answers to some of X's bigs from this group.

I hope our guys remember the shenanigans Xavier pulled during the handshake line after they beat (pummeled) us in last year’s Big East Tournament. At least in my opinion, some on Xavier were classless. An additional motivating factor!

I hope they play a bit and we use them like the last game. They were all aggressive, and positively impacted the game physically. I think we all see by now that they aren’t gonna be a detriment to our success at all. When we are playing poorly with our starting 5 we are gonna lose regardless, but these guys can give us more fouls and a lot of physical backup help as evidenced by the job these guys did at both ends including blocking shots yesterday. It was refreshing to see all of em helping us. I hope we use them moving forward. More quality depth is something we need right now.

You are correct. What they did in that game (running up the score and the handshake line) was BS. Kinds of reminded me of what Fordham did to us several years ago. We paid them back hard. Now lets do the same to Xavier. We will win if we push the pace, create turnovers and get out in transition. No half court game.Winning the game is enough payback, but I would prefer to smoke them.

Yes,they can be used nearly every game to some degree. Regarding Williams I like him . Hope over the summer coach can improve his jump shot,it will make a big difference to the team

Let's beat them on the court and not with the mouth. (Note to Trimble and Clark.)

if he adds a consistent jump shot and the rest of his game stays on the same trajectory he can become a real solid player. His athletic ability and defense are well above average for his year of play.

I'm not worried about Xavier, I'm more worried about us
We need to prove that we can string 2 strong games back to back
We played our hearts out against Nova and then promptly laid an egg against PC
We were great against Seton Hall, we need to continue to play that way against Xavier
If we do, I'm confident that we will beat them, especially at home

Thus the word perhaps” :)

Very big game. Got to get it. Next two are road games.
And we have to continue to use Keita, Williams, Trimble, Earlington, and Roberts. Their combined energy made a big difference in the Hall game, neutralized our 2nd half shooting swoon, and kept the pressure on Seton Hall.
I was most impressed with Keita and Williams but also with Earlington.
It’s one game at a time, but a deeper bench is a huge lift to the team.
And here’s hoping Mustapha is good to go.

Very nice contributions from bench last night.

But that was the result of 2 things:
1) Necessity, from Heron out to foul trouble and
2) Circumstances. When you break out 24-5 to start game it makes it easier to steal some minutes for those guys.

Not as simple as saying let's see these guys get minutes again. Every game is different

Agree, Mustapha being in civvies necessitated changes, but he also missed the Providence home game and we did not adjust as well as we did yesterday.
Maybe, the Staff realized it was time to change the template a bit.
Sure the helll worked y’day.
