Unfortunately West Virginia doesn’t travel like Duke.

Or fortunately as we have a chance to win this. As far as financials are concerned, this game is the Holiday Festival game, so can't imagine the attendance being worse than usual.

We can win this game, but gotta play two full halves. There likely aren’t tricks coming as Huggins does what he does. Great opportunity to win a big game here that we aren’t supposed to, with no real bad losses. I don’t mind we came off a poor performance because I think this team responds better when we are motivated.

Well, our OOC is now officially better (more wins) than our first 2 years under Mullin. Obviously this roster is more experienced/talented than those, but for a "rebuilding" year we're doing a great job at winning the games we're expected to.

If we somehow beat WVU then things would start getting really interesting.

Having the cheapest ticket to the game be $80 is criminal. Cragg is going to get a nice dose of reality this weekend with the attendance. He really misplayed his hand this year with the pricing strategy.

I'm not sure we have the Point Guard play to beat a good team that presses. I expect us to turn the ball over quite a bit on Saturday. Hopefully we can overcome this point guard deficiency.

Where are you looking? Ticketmaster has $45 tickets downstairs. I paid $40 through the university for mine downstairs. Let’s make sure we get our facts straight.

WVU is undefeated. It’s a tough game. Winnable but gotta play real well. After the St. Pete’s game I’m not sure we will have it all together in time but would be a high quality win if we were able to get one. Definitely wish we had Steere for this one. Culver inside is a big kid. WVU doesn’t score well in most offensive status thus far, but they lead their conference in offensive rebounding. Our defensive rebounding was atrocious last game so we need to address that coming into this game.

My understanding is those tickets were only made available this week. Is that incorrect, I haven’t been looking myself? If so, and it was $80 or bust before then, in my opinion that’s even worse.

Not from a fairness equation, but a ticket selling competence equation. It’s not smart to expect fans to have to check a team site weekly to see if better deals evolve over time. Many move on to other plans.

pressing teams don't like to be pressed, an old maxim, maybe will prove true and we can turn the Mountaineers over a lot.

Hate to say it, but if we play like we did in the last ten minutes of the two halves vs. St. peter's we have no chance and it could be a blow-out.

I remember going to this game five years ago against Gonzaga at MSG. Announced crowd 5548.

Looking at our last 4 OOC games and ESPN's BPI...

Vs WVU 53.5%
Vs Brown 82.9%
Vs Albany 80.1%
Vs Arizona 18.2%

None of these games will be easy, and frankly the WVU line looks off. I doubt we'll be favorites.

The most likely result is we'll go 2-2. That would be ok, given that we'd be 9-4 overall OOC. Seton Hall and Villanova last year were only 9-4 OOC and made the Tournament fairly easily, though with much tougher OOC schedules. 9-4 would not be great, but at least we'd still be in contention for an NCAA/NIT bid. Going 3-1 (10-3) would obviously be great, but given the odds would be very tough.

All that said, a big opportunity here (similar to the Vermont and Arizona St games). Hopefully we can break through.

Yeah, I remember that. Ugly game. Given the increased ticket prices and low expectations, the attendance may be similar. We'll see. Mostly I see this as a very big/winnable game, so I'd prefer a stronger home court advantage rather than having a bunch of WVU fans in attendance. Winning this one would help a lot with attendance in our other games going forward.

Agree with the poster who said that WVU has had trouble scoring so far this season. They do most of their damage with points off turnovers for easy baskets and on the offensive boards. We might need to get something out of Sears this game down low. WVU has a 6'9 245lb freshman Tshiebwe who very good and is a big body. Overall, I don't their talent level is better than ours. If Heron and LJ are the top of their games we should win.

Very tough game. Rhodie - probably the best comp to SJU on the WVU schedule thus far - just gave them a game in Morgantown. But they also handled a good Wichita St. team and a much improved Pitt team easily.

They play similar style, but with 12 years as opposed to 12 weeks of implementation. Tshiebwe and Culver about as big and physical of a frontcourt as we'll see all year. Haley and Matthews long wings (both 6'7") who can score and Matthews can seriously light it from deep.

They play 10 double digit minutes and distribute minutes more widely even than does SJU. Bit of a falloff in offensive production after those 4, but those 4 are a problem.

Would be a good to have Steere but challenging even with him. Just a tough matchup against a team much better than ASU/UVM. Good test and hopefully early start in NBA arena keeps WVU from getting into rhythm.

The game against Gonzaga was a 2k Classic or NIT game which was not part of our season ticket package.
Saturdays game is included in the season ticket package.

Someone who posted previously is correct - $45 dollar tickets were just released yesterday..... prior to that the cheapest ticket was $80 which is ridiculous. Looking at ticketmaster only 100 section is being sold and there look to be at least 1,000 tickets available in the lower bowl

Also, 2,945 was the announced crowd last night. I do not remember a regular season game being below 3,000.... this is not a good look and they should reconsider their pricing strategy to get the casual fan in the building.

Well said across the board.

Agree BPI looks off; it's early, but SJU giving away 60-70+ in both KenPom and Sagarin which are not rounding errors. Think that is probably a little extreme in the other direction, but middleground favors WVU.

More importantly agree with your 2-2 to finish OOC being a very good outcome. Positions 7-11 in conference (which will not come easily) to result in 16 total Ws, a winning season which would be completely fantastic result Year 1 from my perspective. Keeps MA's streak alive to boot.

If we can steal one this Saturday makes that path that much easier.
