Kansas just beat Iona 96-83

K outscored in 1st half 46-31, and second half Iona outscored 52-50.

I was surprised to see Jalen Coleman-Lands on Kansas roster.  With multiple redshirt seasons and Covid, he's in his 7th year of college basketball with 4 programs. Crazy.

Makes me think of Theo John.  Will he run out of eligibility before or after he gets social security?

Lol...Theo John is a baby compared to Lands.  John looks old but only in year 5.  Lands is 25 and in 7th year!!!

Mitch Lightfoot is in his sixth year, all with Kansas.  He played his first three, redshirted his fourth, played his fifth and with the Cocid year, is now playing in his sixth year there.

one of the few recruits that had the actual priveledge of Mullin showing up for the recruiting visit :)

Not liking the fact that this is a "home" game on a court / venue the team has never played in.

With Islanders playing the night before doesn't look like we'd be able to get in at least one practice there..

Anyone know if team has been there yet?

Nope. Not advantage at all besides not having to ride a plane. Mano a Mano.

I'm more concerned about the Islanders leaving covid in the arena.:)  They might as well change their name to the South Africanders

more important to not liking how the team is playing

The Islanders are currently having their games postponed due to Covid. Postponed through Tuesday. So who even knows if they play the night before we play there.

I'm hoping this game is a wake up call.   We've been very sloppy with the ball, porous on D, and lacked crisp movement on offense.  I suspect part of it is due to guys jostling for pecking order on offense, and not playing team ball.   To beat Kansas, we have to do a lot of things well.   CMA values and keeps stats on the pass that leads to a pass, those kind of things.   Rather than play a much weaker opponent and sleepwalk through another bad game, this may be the best type of opponent for our guys to play right now.

It's really interesting to see so many 4th and 5th year players moving through the portal.   The one and done programs have caught on that experience wins NCAA games over talent with some frequency.

Crappy start, but KU game is opportunity to set a positive course, improbable but possible. Stranger things have happened in sports for sure. Shorten rotation & play your best defenders with two main guys and give it a go. Not a game to experiment on.

Has it been confirmed that it will be considered a "home" game on the NET?  I thought I had read that when NET came out all games outside a team's normal home venue/s would be considered a neutral site game.  I know Arkansas plays one game a year in Little Rock that on the schedule shows as a home game, but on the NET the past couple years it's been classified as a neutral site game.  I would hope they do the same thing in this situation, since there's literally not any type of home court advantage, outside maybe the ticket allocation.

IDK if it is appropriate to post this here, but I may need to sell 2 or even all 4 of my tickets to this game.  section 117 on the aisle; row in the teens.  Paid a total of $360.  If someone is looking for good tickets at my cost, let me know.

The last three games were all part of a Cunning Plan--when KU looks at the tapes they will come in overconfident./media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png/media/kunena/emoticons/wink.png

Anderson burned them all

With this USB (;-)) Arena being primarily for hockey and brand new, I hope they figure out how not to have the ice underneath the hardwood to cause wet spots on the floor. This is all "new" to this crew.

We are deploying a modified version of how the Dolphins stopped Freeman McNeil in the Jets AFC Championship game.  (They didn't cover the field all week during torrential rainstorms in order to slow down McNeil)
