I still think we are one 6'10 240+ big with good hands and some offensive skill plus a shooter away from truly competing in the Big East top 4-5

Mike, wouldn't almost all the teams in the BE say this, except Nova and Uconn?
Wilt the Stilt Chamberlain would be lovely but he surpasses your criteria in height and weight

great player - perhaps the greatest all around all time imo - younger posters might want to You Tube him!)

For my criticisms about CMA's recruiting, I will always admit that he seems to usually have his teams ready to play. CMA teams don't seem to play down to competition like Mullin and Lavin teams did. Before these types of games under those coaches, it was a matter of wondering what no name YMCA player would torch us that night. We should've beat SP easier, but that seems to be the outlier so far and it was our first game so that's excusable especially given how other teams even great ones have slipped early. Since that game, we look a lot better IMO. I still think we are one 6'10 240+ big with good hands and some offensive skill plus a shooter away from truly competing in the Big East top 4-5, but there's no reason we can't surprise. If our players stay 4 yrs especially Champ and Posh, this is going to be a scary team potentially. I really hope CMA can parlay a solid season with flashes of good things to come into a major recruiting win or two.
On your comment ; “ I still think we are one 6'10 240+ big with good hands and some offensive skill plus a shooter away from truly competing in the Big East top 4-5”

It is safe to say the majority of fans would like to add a competent, strong player w reasonable mobility.
Any reason that can’t be Nyiwe? Kid is 210 but he and Moore can both add muscle in the off-season. He’s real mobile though and a lot of the heavier bigs can’t.
He can be...it's just that when you are very skinny you become easy to push around down low and it's usually harder to finish offensively. If you're more built, you can absorb the blows and still finish. But I'm interested to see him...obviously hope that he's a diamond in rough.

And I think Georgetown has at least 1 Big East starting level big...so does Xavier with Freemantle, so add those to the list. PC has Watson. Add them too. If we do not do well this year in conference it will almost certainly be due to lack of real big at this level and/or lack of shooting.
I don’t necessarily agree with this. We play a speed game and most teams don’t have those massive bigs with well-rounded offensive games. We need a capable offensive and defensive player inside. Agree this kid is on the thin side but he’s a gazelle like Moore. We just need somebody capable of putting a body on bigs and to block some shots and get down court at the other end.

We will have Roberts, Toro and Nyiwe in the middle and Moore up front as well. Enough size to hopefully clean the glass and keep up with other teams bigs.

In regards to Wilt, I heard Bill Russell speak at SJU and he was listing all of Wilt’s accomplishments on the court. He concluded by saying “And he (Wilt) was the 2nd best center in the league,” followed by the classic Russel laugh.

Nice story!
anyway, imo there is never really a Number One in any category of life (basketball, Presidents, occupations, cities to live in...) - so subjective - just too many people, alternative choices and lenses that each of us look at life through.
Thanks for your posts (plural)

And the game's most physically imposing player ever.

Everyone said Wilt was only a selfish scorer so to prove them wrong he decided to show them he could be a "playmaker" and went out led the League in assists (and also scoring and rebounds). Also the guy never fouled out of a game and had incredible stamina in being the all time minutes per game player. and then there is his 20,000 ;).

If Wilt began his odyssey at the age of 8, then it’s one encounter every day!

I once attended three different orgies in the same day, and he was at each one, so I for one believe his 20,000.

To keep things on topic, was someone screaming out “Rider! Rider”?
