The other "R" school in New Jersey would be a much tougher test and better at getting us ready for BE play, but it is, what it is.

I believe we're approx 19 point favorite. Should be a similar outcome to the Stony Brook game. Rider is very young.

I really want to see Greg have another monster game. Would like to see more smart shot selection from Moore. Hopefully Vince gets it going a bit, and more dominating by Julian.

I'm fine w/a lesser level of opponent at this point although I would have loved to see us vs UCONN particularly.
I think of how we easily could have lost to St Peter's, Consequently, I appreciate perhaps the most critical issue given our short prep till Conference play is to develop some coherence between the players and to build self-confidence in each of their roles now emerging.

I remember when they were the hot team in the MAAC and Kevin Bannon parlayed that into the Rutgers gig.

Then he had his players remove their clothes with every missed FT during practice and then run around naked.

Then he was fired.

Then he never coached basketball again.

The end...... nah.

Then he got a job as a NJ county parks director.

Then he was indicted "for using his position to divert thousands of dollars of public money to a nonprofit he controlled."

Gonzo: I'm an ex-MAAC and BE coach who shoplifted from Ralph Lauren.

Bannon: Hold... my... beer.

It was Louis Vitton but who cares. Gonzo had style.

Actually I'm glad the uconn game is postponed, gives us time to get better before playing them. Get the new kid here and good with ma's system, Dunn should be good when we play uconn.
I want both games in February, we should be good to go then.

Wasn't even just players. A couple of student managers had to run naked too. If I'm a 5'10" student manager, not sure I want to line up naked next to Josh Sankes.

I hope the Johnnie's come ready to play hard. It's easy for a team to get over confident playing a soft schedule.

This is an opportunity for everyone on the bench to get game time minutes.

For my criticisms about CMA's recruiting, I will always admit that he seems to usually have his teams ready to play. CMA teams don't seem to play down to competition like Mullin and Lavin teams did. Before these types of games under those coaches, it was a matter of wondering what no name YMCA player would torch us that night. We should've beat SP easier, but that seems to be the outlier so far and it was our first game so that's excusable especially given how other teams even great ones have slipped early. Since that game, we look a lot better IMO. I still think we are one 6'10 240+ big with good hands and some offensive skill plus a shooter away from truly competing in the Big East top 4-5, but there's no reason we can't surprise. If our players stay 4 yrs especially Champ and Posh, this is going to be a scary team potentially. I really hope CMA can parlay a solid season with flashes of good things to come into a major recruiting win or two.

On your comment ; “ I still think we are one 6'10 240+ big with good hands and some offensive skill plus a shooter away from truly competing in the Big East top 4-5”

It is safe to say the majority of fans would like to add a competent, strong player w reasonable mobility.

MainMan, do you know what the outcome of Bannon's case was.

Mike, wouldn't almost all the teams in the BE say this, except Nova and Uconn?

Main Man mentioning Bannon's follies and then Gonzo's, what the heck is Bobby Gonzalez up to these days?

He was certifiable from what I read in the New York Times expose'.

Any reason that can’t be Nyiwe? Kid is 210 but he and Moore can both add muscle in the off-season. He’s real mobile though and a lot of the heavier bigs can’t.

He can be...it's just that when you are very skinny you become easy to push around down low and it's usually harder to finish offensively. If you're more built, you can absorb the blows and still finish. But I'm interested to see him...obviously hope that he's a diamond in rough.

And I think Georgetown has at least 1 Big East starting level big...so does Xavier with Freemantle, so add those to the list. PC has Watson. Add them too. If we do not do well this year in conference it will almost certainly be due to lack of real big at this level and/or lack of shooting.

Hopefully

To me, this is the last softie before we get into league play.

I am interested in how our bigs perform. Champs and Moore are our starters, but when one of them is subbed out what do we get from Roberts, Toro or Earl.
Roberts can board, but is limited offensively.
Toro showed some offense last game, can he do it in league games.
Earl offense is hot and cold. He would need to bring last years hustle to the game.

My point is we would lose some offense when the starters are subbed. Who is going to make up these points?
