If both Posh and Gillespie out, Nova will still be tough with Jay at the helm dictating pace with talented remaining cast. That said, Smith will have to play a lot of minutes manning the point with no other options. Would prefer not to see Dylan assuming that role.

On the other hand, Nova has limitations backing up Gillespie. Bryan Antoine has played sparingly while Arcidiacano’s brother is not very good.

Trainer’s room should be interesting the next few days :)

Moore has been out with an ankle and didnt play today.  Even if he returns, he should be rusty and not 100%.  With or without Posh, I now think St johns is winning this game in the garden.  Obviously under the condition gillispie is out.

Hopefully Posh is okay, although I vote to keep him out on Tuesday unless he is 100%.  Nova's MVP is their head coach, so regardless of who plays they will be tough.

Beyond the talent gap, this is a difficult match-up for us.  Nova is masterful at moving the ball around the perimeter and finding the open 3-point look.  As we know, guarding out on the arc is not our forte.  Forcing the pace, like we did against them at CA last year, is the formula.  We'll need to replicate the effort we saw at Seton Hall last week.

Assuming both Gillespie & Posh are out that is close to a push for us as while Posh may be more important to us, Nova is razor thin in depth. I see a lot of minutes for Smith as both Wusu & Coburn are severely challenged handling the ball against pressure.

Mel had one of the greatest starts to a game ever. If I remember it right, he had 12 points and 12 rebounds in the first  9 minutes, then got hurt at the 12 minute mark. Those number seem impossible, so my memory could be off.  Oral Roberts  himself  said he prayed for him to be healed. Didn't work.

Nova is going to look to do that stalling nonsense they did last game after st johns makes a basket.  If im coach, id talk to the refs pregame and make sure they nip that in the bud right away.

Great point Duke.  They've been doing this the past 2 years.  I'm not sure why the staff hasn't brought this to the refs attention, it's clearly delay of game, they are not suppose to be able to be able to let the ball just roll and not make an effort to get it or if it's thrown directly to them move out of the way and let it roll to waste clock.  They are stealing about 5-10 game clock seconds after every Johnnies made basket.

When posh went out tonight we were tied. Wusu came in and got the job done. You can point to the one TO he had, I thought he was fouled, but it was his two passes that lead to 4 crucial free throws to help seal it. If it’s not posh it’s him. Smith has shown nothing to suggest he’s a better option at the point than him IMO.

Is it legal for st johns to grab the ball after they make a basket and pass it to the ref?  This way, the ref passes it right to Nova and the 5 second count starts.

Jay wright reminds me of Bellichek where he seems to have found a loop hole in the rules of basketball and is exploiting it against us.

I thought I saw the ref tell a Nova player to speed it up.

What the ref should do after a warning (maybe two) is to place the ball on the ground behind the baseline and start the five count. That will put an end to it quickly.

Last Tuesday vs.  Providence, our fans and students provided the first real home court advantage all season vs a ranked first place Providence team.

The 4000 who did show up were almost enough to lift the team to victory, a hard fought 86-82 loss.

Since then our guys have produced two away victories in perhaps a carry over effect of the support they received.

Our next two home games are against two of the best Big East teams, almost certainly two tourney teams, and our biggest rivals.

Both Nova and UCONN  traditionally put a lot of fans in the Garden, creating what is best a neutral court for us.

If we were to win both of these home games, our ratings will soar and we would squarely be in the NCAA hunt.

Over this season our followers have given a lot if reasons why getting to CA is difficult.

Over this season, CMAs worst critics have pointed out that MSG should provide a recruiting advantage.

This is true only if MSG is a loud, vibrant home court for us.

These two games are a great time for our followers who have stayed away so far to buy tickets to both games.

As pointed out, MSG is a great venue.   Both Villanova and UCONN have been nationally ranked this season.season.

Our team is turning the corner in typical CMA fashion providing three away conferences wins.

Will our followers turn out big time?  I hope so.

Over time it's typically been the team that scores that has a player slap the ball towards the crowd behind the basket to stop opponents from in bounding before the defense is set.  Refs will issue warnings to teams and can assess a delay of game technical foul.

When Nova does it on offense it's so their guys don't fall into the trap of playing at our speed where mistakes are made and we create turnovers.    So long as they aren't slapping the ball away. They aren't breaking any rules.

As knight noted, the ref can place the ball on the floor and start counting if a team repeatedly is running the clock like that.  He can also blow the whistle to stop the clock if the ball rolls away.
