This is going to be a good one.  King Rice always has a team that will play tough and not give up.  The new starting 5 gets another shot Wednesday night.  We should win this game but it is not going to be easy.  Monmouth can play.

Seems like they can play, with wins over Cincinnati and Princeton

It's hard to have sustained success at a mid-major in the metro region because there are so many schools at the same level, with the same budget, hiring from the same pool of coaches, recruiting the same level of players.

That's why I was so impressed with Cluess at Iona.

And I'm developing that same respect for King Rice.

I guess the schedule isn't as soft as advertised.  Colgate next.

Not so sure I agree. Colgate, which made the NCAA last year, is off to a 4-5 start this year. While they did beat Syracuse, they lost to NC State, Cornell, Harvard, Niagara and Northeastern.

In addition, there are only 5 teams in Division I that have not won a game this season to date. Two of our wins came against two of those five teams.

Bottom line is we’re going to have to take care of business in the BE and go at least.500.

Forgot- our old friend Shavar Reynolds is leading Monmouth this season.... this is gonna be a good game (hopefully) - see the spread being 4.5 in favor of the good guys.

And a fairly legit big- Walker Miller, 6-11 Grad transfer from UNC. Only got about 2 mpg at UNC over the course of 4yrs, but the competition he saw in practice was probably better than most will see across college bball. He's certainly making the most of this year at Monmouth averaging 15 and 7 vs decent competition.

Man, this is gonna be a solid test.... Line might be Even lol

Dont be surprised to see the Line  sju  -7 to -10

If that's the case.... I advise people to throw some change on Monmouth moneyline.... -7 to -10 will prob put them at +250. I'd be willing to lose 100$ for a SJU win lol.... should they lose.... 250$ softens the blow a bit lol. That's a look inside my warped mind when it comes to SJU bball

I believe the coach, King Rice, played at North Carolina.

Not only did he play at UNC but he recently hired JR Reid who should be a name that rings a bell in the minds of anyone 50 and over. JR Reid was a former MCAA, the high school player of the year, an AA at UNC and okayed many a year in the NBA. He will be a great addition to their staff in working with their big men. I have also watched Samuel Chaput play many a game. He is a good and solid upperclassman from Montreal. I anticipate a tough game for us.

Based on all these concerns about beating Monmouth, maybe we should hold off on the 'National Championship' talk until at least next season?

Not a very productive post. There doesn't appear to be any super teams out there this season so why not us?
