Markus Howard scored 77 points in two games this week. He's averaging 35.8 ppg the last two weeks. The last time he didn't score at least 26 points was 12/7. He's shooting 43% on 9.8 3PAs. Insane.
Anybody else missing Justin Simon right now
No. We have enough players on this team that cant shoot.
We beat Marquette twice last year because Simon held Howard to a combined 7-32 shooting and 25 points over two games while scoring 30 points himself in those games. Yes, we could use him for sure tomorrow night.
There is absolutely no way that this team is not significantly better with Simon. He would have thrived in CMA's system. We would likely be a legit NCAA team with Justin Simon.

This team doesnt need defenders. They need guys who can shoot.
Why would adding another defender who cant shoot make this team any better?

I actually think that you are both right. Simon definitely was not a shooter, something we desperately need. He would however score a lot of junk points, steals and deflections. So overall, he would be a positive.

- averaged 1.5 steals per game in a defensive scheme that did not press.
- would be the second best on this team at getting into the lane off the bounce.
- averaged over 5 rebounds per game
- versatility to be able to pay the one through four
I think these would be his per game averages this year:
12-15 points (10.4 last year)
6 rebounds (5.1 last year)
3 steals (1.5 last year
4 assists (3.2 last year)
5+ deflections (no stats avail)
How is someone with that kind of production not an asset to a team?

Not to mention he would be the best all around player on this roster by a long shot.

This is do or die for this team. They need to rattle off a 3 or 4 game win streak here or this season is over.
Not do or die...this is garbage time already. After we got to 1-4 the season was over. No way you can make up 3+ games in this conference especially when we have 0 shooters or bigs. This game is completely meaningless as are the rest of them this season. Attendance will reflect that. Until we aren't a "maybe next year" team for once, this will persist.

I disagree. I get where you are coming from but im not folding up shop just yet. If we lose tonight, then its big east tournement of bust. If we can get this one tonight, we will go on a little run here.
We have almost no shot at the Tournament, which is disappointing considering it's mid January. That said, we could still at least make the NIT. NIT would still be a successful season.
I'll continue watching and enjoying the games regardless of tournament chances.
The players are putting the effort into the competition. They're usually keeping the score close. There hasn't been any terrible blowouts, yet.
There's always a chance the Johnnies will win. The NIT is still a goal and would give the team valuable experience. They'll be even better next season.

While I agree we’re going to have a tough time the rest of the way, we still have a shot at the NIT and these kids have already proven they have a lot of heart, pride and character. I doubt that they look at any game the rest of the way as “meaningless”.

Agree wholeheartedly. Great style of play, we go all out and a great group of kids to get behind. We leave it all out there, even if lately we have left some close wins out there too.
