Have to limit their offensive rebounds which has been a glaring deficiency.
We need to keep Josh Roberts on the floor.  I know he does not bring to much offensively, but he is the key to everything on the defensive end and rebounding.  He needs to be out there 30 minutes a game IMO.
Happy that Josh worked himself back in the rotation and getting more minutes, he's defintely been a positive contributor the last few games, however he's averaging 3 PPG and 3 RPG, I'd hardly consider him a guy that "needs" to be on the floor. 6'8 Pauly Paulicap was absolutely abusing him on the boards and scoring on him at will in the paint.  On top of that he also missed like 3 bunnies right under the basket.  If it's not a wide open dunk, his offense is non-existent.  There's a reason why he only played 10 minutes in that game and why even when he's playing well CMA typically keeps him under 20 MPG, he knows his players limitations.

Not only does our players have to play well ,coach also has to do a better than average job hope we go over videos, defensive problems we had last game, tighten up on their 3 pt shooter, get to lose balls better and of course redound.
just an observation, not seeing every game but Josh rarely gets the open tip.just mo but putting his hand up before ref throws it up think he loses height on his jump this is not science but think it hinders his vertical Ht I'm open for negative respond.
If we can pull a win off this this changes our season anyhow we are perceived

Our bigs need to improve their positioning.  We need them to hit the boards harder, they are not scorers.

Some good comments about what we learned about matchups based on the first game.   Once I was speaking to Keady and we had Syracuse coming up.   He said, well we learned a lot the first time and that should help in the upcoming game.   So I asked him what we learned the first time.   He then named one of our guys by name (I won't mention who), and said, "Well, we learned he won't be playing him next time."    I thought it was funny, but he was dead serious.   Coaches job is to put players on the floor who can be effective, and to put them in position on the floor to maximize their effectiveness.    If you watched any TT games with Tariq Owens, they didn't allow him to camp out 25 feet from the basket and hoist up threes.   It helped get them to the Final Four.

Nova head and shoulders above the rest this year.  I may be wrong, but seems like Creighton a clear 2nd, Hall, Xavier next and 5 through 8 up for grabs between us UCONN, PC & Marquette. A win tomorrow would be huge.

St. John's guard Greg Williams Jr. (back) has remained very limited at practice, I'm told. Status uncertain for tomorrow. Has missed the last two-plus games. #sjubb

Let's not double the post. Make their big guy beat us. Lock the perimeter down.

Agree.  This game will be won on the defensive side if we are going to win it.  If you look at our overal big East ranks, it's one of the first years where our offense ranks near the top of the league, but our defense, with the exception of steals, near the bottom.  Time to ratchet that up.

Most excited I've been for a game all year. Win this and the Tournament becomes a possibility.

Little under 2 hours to go till tipoff.  I am expecting big games from posh and champy.  Who will be the 3rd guy to step up and provide scoring?  Can Cole do it again???  Will will get good or bad earligton today???

That's definitely something. Gotta keep up our attack the rim mindset and hopefully get John and Garcia in foul trouble. Minimize their size advantage and we can give them some problems.

Agree.

Based on last game, they had one ball handler (Carton) who could deal with pressure. Deny him the ball and pressure all others.

In the post, think Roberts needs to AVOID trying to deny the ball with the intent of eliminating John entirely. It just gets him in foul trouble when he tries to body up too hard. Deny without fouling and, if John gets the ball, play to get the charge if he tries to bull his way for a layup/dunk and invite him to take a turn around shot.

As for Garcia, he is more skilled with the jump hook. . .don't try to block it (not going to happen). . .just get in his field of vision and make it difficult.
