Thanks Duke but what I am getting at is the postponed game would be our chance to be 10 - 10 tied with Marquette for 6th , That would give us 6th and play someone else first round in the BET. Like i said just a what if. But I do think we can beat Marquette.

Since preseason, I had us at 11-9, or 10-10.  I believe that others, including Paultz and Lawmanfan were also conservative in their expectations.   My thoughts were they we could be a bubble team, with 11-9 putting us on the right side of the bubble, and 10-10 a little short unless we beat a Kansas or Indiana.

Losing a home game vs. Marquette, which I had down for a win, basically knocked it down to 10-9, or 9-10.    With one win we can be there.

I'm not saying this to pin any stars on myself, just that while we haven't met expectations, considering the roster turnover, expectations were too high due to too many question marks.   The biggest transfers from major conferences either saw limited playing time or were benched.   The others were all mid majors.   At one point or another all have performed well, and at other times have been inconsistent.   Injuries plus Champ unexpected struggles also hurt.

We win tomorrow and we can take momentum into the BET, and possibly have a post season somewhere with at least one win.  If we win tomorrow and got as far as the Big East finals, maybe the decision gods will be with us.

You are going to be closer to the mark than me. I expected them to be a top four team in the Big East. Solid prognostication is not my strong suit :)

I suspect CMA doing more than expected with what he had the first seasons gave us cause for higher expectations. Nothing wrong with that.   I have just enjoyed all the close games and at times decent play, though there were way too many lapses and inability to make stops or score baskets.

The most consecutive wins we have had in Big East play is 2.  We will need to win 6 straight to make the NCAA Tournament.

1 down, 5 to go.

I don't think there be too many bets laid on that.

Anyone know when the last time we won 2 BE tourney games?  Thanks...

The 1999-2000 season, which is when we also last won the Big East tourney.

We haven't even made it to the semi-finals since then.

We also haven't won an NCAA tourney game since that season.

Thanks.  I didn't think winning 2 games was that long in the BE although I am well aware of our NCAA Tourney history.

If there is one thing you can count on about this program is that we'll be terrible in postseason tournaments.

It is the same point I just made about Nova and Providence in the Big East topic. I guess the conference did its best to make up games but some of this dense sit right with me.

Thursday of the Big East Tournament is typically a very challenging day for us. That looked like it may come to an end against Creighton in 2020 but bigger things intervened. Hopeful but not optimistic.

I feel like playing Wed night gives you an advantage in the Thursday night game.  You are warmed up and ready to go while the other team has had a bit of a layoff.

Fatigue starts become a factor Friday and Sat so playing Wed night becomes a disadvantage if you get that far.

Big difference is free throw shooting:   SJU - 67.3%;  Marquette - 74.0%

I think Coburn and Smith are both primarily offensive players.    Both can take the ball to the hoop, but their real value is in 3 point shooting which spreads the defense.   As with most shooters, both are streaky, so whoever is hot plays more.    Pinzon warrants time, and I would suggest that when Posh isn't on the floor, Pinzon should be running the show.

BTW, Coburn has hops and lots of it.

Let's hope that our guys bring their A game with them, and play with a confidence where they won't be denied a W.

There should not be 1 minute played tonight where Coburn, Pinzon and Smith are all on the bench at the same time.  That means there is a terrible shooting lineup out there.

A minimum of 1 of those 3 guys needs to be on the floor for the full 40 minutes.

If we do that, we will win tonight.

My prediction:

If Coburn plays 20 or more minutes, we win.

If he plays less then 20 minutes, we lose.

I'm not sure that the opposite is not more accurate.  If Coburn is playing then it means we are hunting for offense.  If he isn't then it means the offense is doing fine.

Is this game on the same time as the Duke No Carolina game?
think we will outdraw Duke game?  Lol
Coach K recommended Anderson. They shouldn't have trusted him.
