Mostly what I want from this game today is to see the defense improve. I want to really see that intensity that we saw last season , especially at the end. If we get that we’ll be ok.

Re-watching last night's game and Moore has very poor hands. Got the ball knocked away by much smaller players on SP. Needs to go up stronger and put some meat on those bones. Cole was refreshing as a real knockdown shooter. Posh barely put a hand up giving up an easy 3 and many other players with matador D. SP clearly wanted it much more. Need to tighten up in a major way.

This game will be tough also. LaSalle starts three transfers from power 5 schools. Hopefully Dunn plays, I think he can bounce back today. Let’s just get the win. I don’t expect us to cover this game either though. I think it will be close, let’s just squeeze out another one , get Champ back and move forward.

Later in game Posh was clearly winded. If he didn't get his hands up earlier in game, no excuse for that. Much like Tariq, gotta find the right slot for Moore. If Toro can man the 5, which I'm skeptical of, then I'd much rather see Moore at the 4. He's gonna have a tough time down low physically in league play IMO. But I still like his offensive skill sets a lot.

Sju fav by 10pnts
Expecting a better defensive effort today, you know Mike was on their asses after that game.

Early on St Peters was able to get easy baskets inside because of SJUs poor defense . SJU then provides guard help down low and St Peters responds by throwing the ball outside for uncontested threes. This is probably basketball 101 for college basketball coaches.
Every big man who enters SJU seems to leave his inside scoring talent behind and if any team that would benefit from taking uncontested threes it would be SJU. Where is Walter Berry ?
Not only has the talent of the mid majors improved over the years , so has their coaching.

I am not sure I would play he and Dunn together frankly, but CMA knows better than me. Perhaps today we will see more of what McGriff offers as Posh’s caddy in brief spurts to keep him fresh. On to LaSalle![/quote]

Dunn did not look good off the ball on offense. I was dismayed that he did not do some of the other things that he did for us last year like rebounding and outhustling bigger players. This is a mental thing for him and as the most veteran player he needs to get over it yesterday. On the plus side he had 5 assists. I think he can play with Posh and Mcgriff but they will need to have some action for him like creating weak side space for him. Otherwise he is a full court transition player and the defense will need to improve significantly for him to play that game. He and the whole team was stagnant in half court offense and the defense created very little to open things up. But missing 2 footers is also inexcusable especially when you have a size advantage.

Moore has good offensive skills for a big, but not sure his body and soft hands bode well for conference play. He may get bullied. Watched PC with Watson and he is a beast of a player. Those types of guys will give us major major problems IMO. The last play we should have lost giving up a wide open layup. I paused when the SP player drove on us. No SJ player within 3 ft of him and it was like the red sea parted for him. Moore went to swat and was nowhere near the ball. If we had Moore, Posh, and Cole with LJ, Champ, and Heron I think we would be a legit team. But we will clearly miss Heron and LJ. And who knows how long Champ is out. Not a good start to the year. Hope we learned a lesson and come back with much more effort on D. Toro will most likely not do much for us based on what I saw.

With Dunn out. and Posh looking tired I expected to see McGriiff for a few minutes.
