What a fun Wednesday night this is going to be.  Call me crazy but I think we are the better team and fully expect us to win.

Tough game.  They have an All American of their own  at PF who’s a beast in Trayce Jackson-Davis.  They’re gonna try to beat us from the inside out.  They also play good defense and are trying to play kinda like we play under CMA.  I don’t think they know how fast and athletic we are though and it’s gonna be a big task to guard us.

Our biggest task is controlling the paint and not letting them kill us down low.  I think we have many more scoring options and will be hard for them to stop.  With our added size I’m encouraged and think we have a good shot at winning.

They’re ranked something like 27th preseason so a win on the road would be huge for our resume’.  It will take a big effort but early in the season is a good time to run into them.  Gotta play full 40.

I like our chances in this game, but think we will need to be more aggressive on the boards.  We were outrebounded by St. Peters and allowed them 14 offensive rebounds.  We'll have to do better by committing to the glass on Wednesday.

How about Champy, Posh, Soriano, Coburn and Wheeler to start?

Now that yu mention it, Coburn should be starting. Kid shoots the lights out and plays D as well.

I kinda like Coburn coming off the bench and just torching people when he comes in.  Keep ‘em guessing.  He got starters minutes so it really doesn’t matter.

I do agree with you as far as home games, but on the road, I think it's important to get off to a good start, so I think he should start Wednesday.  I'm not going to go nuts if he doesn't, though.

As far as getting starters minutes are concerned, I actually think there's a chance we play 11 guys somewhat regularly this season (though Pinzon could see his minutes drop, and Nywie is clearly #11 right now).  I truly believe that this style of play, is the one style where you can constantly shuffle players, and get away with it.  With all the pressing and trapping we do, guys are going to need rest.

I really like the 11-man rotation because we don’t lose a lot with most of these guys and it plays to our strengths. It might get tightened a tiny bit but I think Anderson wants all these kids meshing and it seems to be happening early on pretty nicely.

Pinzon is fine but young and isn’t yet set into cma’s tempo.  He’s moving too fast on offense and not fast enough on defense at times.  He will learn to control that with time.  I actually see a lot that Nywie does well.  He’s a gazelle, defends and passes welll etc.  I think he belongs in the rotation.

We really haven't played our full court pressure D yet, so it will be interesting to see where we're at in regards to pressing more and getting more turnovers. I definitely believe they can ratchet it up a few more clicks and we'll get to see that Wednesday.

But by doing so do not what them to give up a lot of easy buckets, would like to see them continue what they are doing and play hard nose traditional  D .Like  Mathis  hope his outside shooting improves but anyway he is an important piece to our success

I am sure it's already been mentioned, but Rawdog......that avatar is the winner!

I believe the game is in Bloomington . IU’s on campus home court .  Tough to Win there for any team . Why , Crowd, Home Court Ref advantage, etc .
Plus , Hoosiers are a good team with a new Coach in Mike Woodson , a former player .  We will need to use the full court press , rebound , not get our bigs in foul trouble and shoot the lights out from outside .    Wheeler has likely played there before , so that’s a plus .  Coburn could be a key , in addition to Champ , Posh .                                What a find he is !    Enrolled in our PA program after graduating from Hofstra .  Tariq Turner could not stop raving about him  yesterday .   Clearly he’s a Diamond found in the rough .

Just reading the indiana site.  Only a couple posts so far but one guy has indiana by 10 plus.

one link they had to learn about our team was from before season started from sb nation.  Interesting read about our team   here is that article.

I did find a topic earlier that discusses sju as well.  So they have spoken more about us.  An sju fan chimed in yesterday regarding things in that thread.

here is their message board link

Indiana is going to play tough physical defense. It will test our shot creating and shot making ability.  This is a big early test on the road in a very difficult place to play.  It's also a good opportunity to evaluate how we are going to match up against a physical style of play.

This game is not going to be easy on the road. Need big games from our two stars to help open up things for the complimentary players. Whistles against us could be an issue as well so we have to play aggressive but smart defense.

Agreed WM. Would love to win this game, but more important to me are getting answers to some important questions. Certainly what you mentioned, but more specifically;
-Can Smith and Coburn get good looks and knock down shots against a much higher level of comp?
-Can Soriano hold his own down low against Jackson-Davis?
-Can Wheeler and Stanley be effective around the rim on both ends?
-What can Mathis give us on offense?
-Who is our back up PG?

As you say, this will be a real test and give us a better gage of where things stand with this team, win or lose.

Expecting a loss but hoping for a win. Kinda wish this could was a few weeks later on our schedule so the team would have had more time to gel.

Remember though, Indiana also hasn’t had much time to gel under a brand new coach either.  There are positives and negatives to both playing certain teams early and late.  Indiana playing a very different style this year, with what they consider to be “fast”.  I’m not sure they know our level of fast yet, so might be good to catch ‘em early.  We will need a tight defensive effort.
