GTown putting a whupping on Butler tonight. Sunday may be yet another tough game for us. But then again, aren’t they all?

A little payback at the Garden please and another opportunity to roll out my inspirational motivational speech ©

Time to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, shake out the cobwebs, get back on the horse, pull up our socks, hitch up our pants, tuck in our shirts, tighten our belts, lace up our sneakers, regroup, recover, reinforce, retrench, climb back on the horse (again), get off the schneid, step up to the plate, step up to the free throw line, goal line stand, gut-check, win the foot race, half time adjustments, win the loose ball, keep our eye on the ball, rebound, make our freebies, out hustle, out muscle, stop the run, protect our house, onions, Swiss Army Knife... JUST WIN BABY!!

G-Town is 2-5, 0-4 on the road.
If we can't beat them at MSG then at 2-8 forget the rest of the season.

Georgetown is a game that the Johnnies should beat at home. The Johnnies didn't do well in the road game. They got their asses kicked. I'm hoping CMA will have the team better prepared for Georgetown in the rematch.

They're defending home court. It's time to man up and show some pride.

As bad a beating as we got last night, we have our most favorable 4 game stretch of BE play coming up. Three of next 4 at home against Gtown, Providence & Xavier, all very winnable games. We'll know after the Xavier game if we have a good shot at NIT which would make this a very successful first year for MA. Taking 3 of next 4 very doable, taking at least 2 a must.

G'town may be shorthanded due to losing 3 players earlier in the season but Yurtseven, McClung, Mosely, and Pickett are more talented then the Johnnies. Even after last nights close loss to Butler they have to be confident going against us on Sunday.Looking for Heon to show up. Got to stay with your man or we will see open threes.

You can’t prepare for bad shooting missing lay-ups easily can be another loss Coach knows what we need next yr ,shooter and a presence in the middle capable blocking and altering Shots and double digit rebounding
Try to enjoy the rest of the season our Team is doing the best they can.they will have a great game before the season ends

Surprsingly despite our underwhelming conference record we are still just on the outside part of the bubble for the NCAA tournament according to the Bracket experts (see below). We are currently listed as part of the first four teams out.

Except for our no-show down at Goergetown and our totally lackluster effort against Villanova, Tuesday, the team has played really hard and is almost always competitive. It seems unlikely to me that we will hop over teams and make the NCAA tournament, but the fact that it is not a dead deal after 22 games is surprising in itself given our pre-season expectations.

Winning some of our remaining home games (Georgetown, Providence, Xavier, Creighton and Marquette) seems doable. The four remaining road games against the upper tier teams of the conference (Creighton, Seton Hall, Villanova and Butler) all seem daunting.

That said if we can somehow manage to go 5 and 4 over our last nine games then we actually could make the tournament. I do not expect this to happen and certainly would not be disappointed if we go something like 3 and 6 instead. Still it would be great if we can get past Georgetown on Sunday and keep us relevant just a little bit longer. Lackluster efforts like the Villanova game are disheartening to me, so as long as we can play hard and smart on Sunday then I think we should at the very least have an exciting game with a chance for a victory.

The Johnnies season is far from over. There's several home games they're capable of winning. The Johnnies could steal a surprise win over a upper tier team. They already did it twice this season.
The uncertainty is what make this team interesting and fun to watch. They're capable of playing really well. Never know how the Johnnies will perform on any given night.

Glad to hear the Big Dance hasn't completely been ruled out. It's a longshot. I'd be satisfied with them doing well in the NIT.

I’ll be at the game tomorrow. Who will be there? Halftime beer meet up

I got a question for making plays or/and big red since they followed cma everywhere.

I know he subs alot, but why take out the hot hand, you should go with him until he cools off.
Does he think that to hot and are about to cool off, so he takes the guy out? I'd say let him cool off first then take him out.

Do you have a specific example? Because only hot hands I can think of as of late have been Dunn and LJ and both of them have been averaging over 30 MPG the last several games, they haven't been on the bench much at all. Heron you may can include in that list the 3 games before Villanova, but he's coming off an injury and has been noticeably slower, so of course aren't going to push him past a certain limit.

But to answer your question, CMA says he goes by an honor system, he tells guys to go as hard as they can for as long as they can, and when they get tired raise their hand to come out. As far as I know, the only time he'll take a hot hand out, is if that guy raises his hand and asks to come out or if he seems them visibly slowing down he'll sub them out. You may not notice it sometimes when the player raises his hand, It's really hard to play that pressing style for long periods of time without a break.

I know in ooc one game champ had 6pnts in the first 3 minutes, CMA took him out at the under 16. 0 pnts the rest of the half.
Julian scored 6 more to start the 2nd half, and again takes him out at the under 16.
I remember then going nut and yelling. Sure enough 0pnts the rest of the game.
I'm sure I seen others taken out but not remembering.
Even on JJ some said they seen the same.

To me they can't be really tired if they're hot on the floor. I'd only raise my hands if I started cooling off, wouldn't care if it felt like my legs were going to fall off.

Cma would literally have to come on the court and drag me off.

Scoring 6 points in 3 minutes at the beginning of the game isn't going to stop many coaches on rotating a player in or out in their normal rotation. Near the end of the game or in the middle of a big run is a different story, and I can't recall CMA ever doing that.

One example I can give you is David Caraher during the Umass game, he came in around the first media timeout in the second half, and I don't think he ever came out of the game, they went on a run and he was making shots, CMA joked in the post press conference saying he kept waiting for him to raise his hand to come out, but he never did, and he let him keep playing. That was the game Caraher had 17 points.

Edit: Also, I can remember several times role players like Earlington and Williams were playing really well and scoring and CMA would let them stay on the floor until they missed a couple of shots. As of a matter of fact CMA was criticized by some for riding guys that were hot on the comeback against Butler, and not putting the starters back in to close the game.
