If we want the games in February and March to potentially mean something this is a game we have to win. Going into the season this game was looked at as a good chance to get a road conference W. It still is.

No moral victories. No excuses. No blaming the refs. No "we would have won if....". Just win.

You're right, if they lose this game I will give away the rest of my season tickets and just give up on the year.  Maybe the program entirely.  But it all depends on this game, no question about it.

I hope to be wrong, but I'm expecting a loss. As noted previously in the thread, we never do well at Creighton, I think it was mentioned we've lost 9 of 10 at Creighton. It's a tough road environment, just like Butler is, where we also do very poorly.

Now this Creighton team is not nearly as good as years past, but I'll still go in expecting the worst.

A SJU tradition, “expecting the worst” :)

Nah I guess you're right. This game is meaningless. It's January 19th and we're not even in the tournament conversation because of our lack of any notable wins whatsoever and losing to a middle of the pack team that we're more talented than wouldn't be a big deal. We'll have plenty of opportunities to pick up big wins in May and June I suppose.

Latest odds I saw has Creighton a four point favorite. I can’t recall a more favorable spread v CU in Omaha for Johnnies. This is another of those “opportunity” games.” If Johnnies want to make any noise this year imo, they should go 2-2 in next four. If not, it does not mean the season is over obviously, but beating CU, SH at home while losing on road to Nova & SH again seems doable. If not 1-3 or 0-4 makes things challenging and despite some games left v less than stellar GT, Butler and DePaul may not matter. If SJ “has it” then show it tonight and this four game gauntlet may not be so bad and set the right tone going forward.

After much thought and consideration......I have no freakin' idea what's going to happen tonight.

Thank you.

Anyone know what's going on with Pinzon right now?

It's around noon there so I imagine he's probably getting ready for lunch.

Johnnies have won once in last ten games at Creighton. Due or done? :)

This can be said for pretty much any big east road venue. Since realignment SJU has won only once at: Creighton/Butler/Xavier/Seton Hall/Georgetown/Nova. Even going further, and someone can fact check me on this, but outside of the OT game a few years ago in DC, St. John's has only won one game since like 2004 at Georgetown & even against some pretty bad Seton Hall teams around 2007-2012 it's been something like only twice since 2007. And traditionally I wouldn't call Prudential exactly the toughest place to play comparing it to other Big East venues.  Marquette/PC/DePaul seem to be the only places SJU has had some success over the past decade.

Not exactly a hot take but for this year & generally going forward St. John's needs to really play better on the road. Steal a few on the road & for the most part take care of the home games is the recipe to getting to the top half of the conference

Am I crazy to be more worried about O’Connell than Nembhard?

Not at all.  As usual Creighton has a number of guys who can hurt you, and if you shut one down another may well step up.
