U know these boys are going to play smart and knock down 3s. We are going to be waaay more athletic then them and will have to use that to wear them down and win this game.

This should be a good one.

The teams they have played are abysmally bad. They almost shoot as good at 3 as they do from the line which is awful. Defend well and we win running away. Haarms is huge and not bad. He might annoy us.

I am much more hopeful after BC game but I'm sure BYU is licking their chops being able to get open 3's most of the game. Our driving to hoop will be much more difficult against two 7 footers than it was today. Going to have to get their bigs in foul trouble early. Go right at them. Hoping we don't have a shooting letdown after a good day today. Need consistent shooting against teams like BYU who can be up by a lot quickly with how many 3's they make. Should be interesting clash of different styles but I think it's much tougher than BC.

Is there a channel they are on? Or should I go up to Mohegan to gamble and check them out by looking thru the doors

Daytime hoops to get thru the day is nice

Nice to get some ESPN exposure like the old days. Happy with FS1 but ESPN will still get many more eyeballs on our program.

As I'm sure you know linear TV is dying. ESPN has lost upwards of 10M subs the last few years while Fox Sports continued to gain more. At this point they are pretty much the same in terms of number of subs accounting for 90% of TV's with cable.

And that's just big ESPN. Their other channels are much lower.

The most famous polygamist was Brigham Young. They say he had 52 wives. Now, I remember the words of Brigham Young; he said, "I don't care how you bring 'em, but bring 'em young!" -Rodney Dangerfield

Their top scorer is shooting 73% from 3. Normally I would expect mean reversion, but versus us I expect 80%+.

I much prefer BYU challenges us and presents some offensive wrinkles that our new players learn from. One more step for preparing for BE play. These bubble environments are at least positives in a sea of COVID negativity. I wish there was time to plan regionalized bubbles for Big East play as well, efficient, practical and safer perhaps.

Last time I looked, ESPN channels still had much more viewers. As in hundreds of thousands more...sometimes doubling or tripling FS1 viewers. FS1 has been great but it's still new and most still don't know about it. ESPN has been around since what, the late 70's early 80's? Don't be so sure yet about cord cutting...I've used Playstation Vue, Hulu, Sling, and now YouTube TV to stream live TV and watch our games. It's probably just my awful internet (thanks Cablevision), but off WiFi it's pretty bad still. Games will be pixelized and buffer at times. Still very early in the streaming game. Cable you don't have to worry about buffering or pixels. I had to connect my ethernet cable directly to my smart TV for it to work as well as cable, but even then it can get funky once in a while. When I get a house, if they offer Fios, I will use them instead of streaming. At this point in time I think it's still superior probably for the next several years.

Kenpom gives the Storm a 54% chance of winning predicting a score of 79 to 78 for the Johnnies to go 4- 0.

Sure ESPN has higher ratings. But what are the ratings for SJU games on there? I don't think it matters if our games are on ESPN as you mentioned when you were out at a bar recently someone barely knew about SJU. All BE games on FS1 do really good. Especially last year I recall some record breaking numbers. Plus throw in the games on Big Fox that come before or after NFL or something and those are big time.

The point I was making about eyeballs is the ESPN and FS1 are pretty much dead even in terms of how many households have the channel. Sure someone is more likely to watch ESPN over FS1 based on the programming they offer. Are you hopeful that by being on ESPN someone will find out miraculously who SJU is? If they like basketball they will find out provided we win. Winning cures all ills doesnt matter what station you're on. But also ratings are down across the board since pandemic started and all the articles coming out are the Mike Zaun generation doesn't consume live sports the way older generations have.

I hate digital as much as you but the facts are linear is dying. I hate the pixilation and the lag between true 'real time' but it's becoming the new norm. I still have the top TV package and I'm not that much older than you so holding onto dear life when it comes to TV but that won't last forever.

This “work from home” thing working out quite well. Watched two decent games yesterday afternoon as well.

Thanks. So I can anticipate my heart attack.
