I expect St John's to struggle in this game. I'm hoping it won't be a blow out.

The lopsided competition should motivate these players to train even harder this summer. They'll be better prepared next season to compete in the Big East. Payback is the best answer to a losing season.

Yes - I have believed that for many years. One of the great what-ifs in Johnnies' history is what would have happened if Jarvis had taken the Wizards job in 2000 and we hired Jay Wright (who was coming off his first NCAA appearance with Hofstra.) Jay Wright was living in Nassau County and successfully recruiting New York already. I'm not claiming we'd have two national championships, but we'd be a perennial Top 25 team and in top three of the Big East every year.

Maybe, but we'll never know for sure, so no sense playing the "what ifs"
Hopefully, we will eventually see big strides forward under CMA's leadership

Wasn't Jay a Massimino protege'?

When I coached basketball in the 1970's and 1980's, I worked for Coach Massimino at Camp Green Lane in Pennsylvania every summer. One of the nicest guys you could ever meet. He would share anything you wanted to know about basketball, including his drills, offensive and defensive strategies, etc. over beers late in the evening. His assistants worked the camp and were fiercely loyal, as were the many former players that came back to visit and help at the camp. There was a true family atmosphere at Villanova during his tenure, as I am sure there is right now.

Coach Mass' big mistake was following Tark at UNLV. Instead of being a big fish in a small pond, Coach wanted to be a big fish in a big pond after winning the national championship at Villanova. Unfortunately, things didn't work out quite as well as he would have hoped and expected. It's tough to replace a legend.

I loved watching him and Raftery during the Big East season. Their antics were legendary. At the end of the game, they both look liked they went 15 rounds with Mike Tyson. Two true gentlemen off the court with a fighting spirit on it.

RIP, Coach. You were one of the great ones.

If so, Roy Williams' coaching skills really declined this year
