(POST GAME) @Villanova, Tues., Feb. 23, 8p, CBSSN / 970 AM WNYM

It's inconciable that you can shoot 3-23  we need better shooter next yr mo as far as Posh think he done for the season too bad just hope he takes care of his thumb and does push coming back and do more damage

It's mighty shortsighted to look at any one game and make absolute observations - SJU is currently 4th in the BE in 3pt shooting %.

Shooters are nice, but offense is not this team's wekaness (I think they are the highest scoring team in the confernece).  So, while I would like as many shooters as we can get, for this group to take the next step it needs (i) better and musch more consistent defense and (ii) rebounding and post presence/defense.

Better coaching would help.Nothing fancy, just the basics like boxing out, not overly switching, not having everyone collapsing every time when someone drives, pick and role, back door plays, designed offensive and out of bounds plays, etc.

This has been such a roller coaster of a season. I think CMAs teams tend to go on strreaks like this often and is paralell with his sytem. Youll have lowly lows and ultimate highs. I was so low on the team during the 1-5 start and annoyed at the direction of the program but I totally feel that they have improved so much as the season went on and from last year that the program is trending int he right direction under CMA. Still not 100% sold but way more in the positive direction.

We definitely do have a lot of talent hopefully returning and heading into next year if everyone comes back and I believe that Pinzon and Drissa will be solid additions. I still believe we need to bring in more talent to make that big jump. Some posters have said in their posts that during our winning streak we were able to really cover our deficiencies very well for those games. We still have no inside presence (offensively or defensively), we do not rebound all that well, and sometimes get abused in our defensive rotations. We really need a good big for next year, a good shooter, and an athleitc slasher to fill out the roster.Hopefully staff will be able to bring some more guys in to fill out this roster.

None of our guys are ever in position to rebound. It amazes me how out of position Roberts is everytime a shot is thrown up. I think him starting is just a novelty at this point. He brings nothing.

After we beat X I couldn't beleive some of what I was reading on here; I won't go back and find those posts who were figuring our seed in the big dance and one even had us in the sweet 16, nonsense.

Coach Anderson wasn't too high when we were really solid, and he won't be too low now that we hit a bad stretch.

On to the Providence game another Big East war of attrition, let's hope the layoff is good for Posh, praying it is not as bad as it looked.

Drive and kick and interior passing seem to have disappeared.  I don't know enough about hoops to explain it.  Can one of the experts on here help me out?

He doesn't have a post players instincts on Offense .. Moore must not have ever been a post player as he naturally moves out to the Wing but , he does follow errant shots well and dunks  them .  Especially with lobs or following missed fast break layups . No matter how much weight he puts on , he will not be a BE Post Player . He does contribute though . Again as a role player .  I know CMA has targeted NYC kids in recruiting but , do we want a whole team of OSL kids and not others ?  Give Mike a EZ pass and get him over to Jersey . And , doesn't he have some Recruiting connections in Arkansas and Missouri ?  Get into those areas . It's hard , with the Virus but , hey ya gotta try ..

I keep saying this over and over. He doesn't even jump ball at the start of each half.  Probably plays three minutes and sits. Why even play him unless Moore or Earlington get in foul trouvle. I would expect he will leave next year and why not?

Coached has had enough time to nail down a big here or out of the US,if recruiting does get better his job  is in in trouble
His team wasn't prepared for Nova their energy ,their preparation ,losing most of the lose balls etc is on coach. Hendid not put excellent shooting first when recruiting he put those that can run all game which is nice but you can not win games shooting 3-23 an expect to beat anybody. Team needs a lot of work and so does staff

When you have no defense and you are well defended that leads to losing. How many reverse layups did Villanova make? How many uncontested 3's did they take? I know it's easy for me to pick out flaws but somebody has to be held accountable. Our school is not well represented.

This game was over about 30 seconds after we finished off the victory over them three weeks ago.

Completely agree with this.  When they were up by 20, Jay Wright was still working the refs and coaching his a$$ off.  They didn't just want to beat us, they wanted to remind us who they are.  Point taken.

Good point.  As previously stated, our offense is not the major problem.  That said, I too have been posting about the lack of drive and kick.  It's been a pet peeve of mine, so I took a picture last night.  In this one, Champ literally drew Nova's whole team into the paint. You can see Earlingotn wide open, but if you do the math, there must be two other Johnnies wide open outside the picture.  Champ forged ahead and got stymied by the collapsing defense.

Again, this is nit picking, but it is something we can add to our repitore (especially late in the shot clock).

-----  It's not nitpicking and it's a great illustration. He has 5 players around him.

I don't know.  I'm not saying we would have won yesterday, but we played horrible.  Had we played our best, I believe it would have been a competitive game, irrespective of  how much Nova wanted to avenge their loss.
