(POST GAME) @Villanova, Tues., Feb. 23, 8p, CBSSN / 970 AM WNYM

I hope Posh will be ok. He's needed.

There's not much to say about the game. The Johnnies got blown off the court.

I didn't expect a win tonight but I did expect a much more inspired performance
Two consecutive lackluster efforts doesn't bode well for us this late in the season
Very concerned about Posh's injury
We need him on the floor if we are to turn it around against Providence

You know it's been an up and down season. and we are down right now. I made my peace with that by halftime of this game.

but! Of course, whatever higher power is up there couldn't leave it at that. Nope... we had to get roundhouse kicked while we were down...

Posh Alexander. Probably my favorite freshman I've seen in an SJU jersey, gets hurt when the game was well over. Probably done for the season. So there goes that tiny little shrivel of a hope that we could go on some magical run in the BET.

tonight is one of those nights where I question why I even like sports lol. When you think there's joy. Something terrible is just around the corner.

why am I a Jets, Knicks, SJU, Mets fan? I'm heavy on the self loathing tonight so I will make this my last post of the night. Good night all

These last 2 games have really brought us back to reality.  I have no clue how we just started playing some awesome basketball out of nowhere a few weeks back.  I also have no clue how we have just benn downright terrible the last 2 games.

Weird season.

Another hard game to watch.
Defense looking more like what it was in the beginning of the season, especially their three point defense.
They had alot more open threes then we had. Credit to Nova's defense.

From bad to very good to very bad, all within the same season, is what normally happens to teams with talented players, but not enough of them. Some players have had quality games, but will do so inconsistency. I expected that Villanova, playing a revenge game at home, would play very well. I didn't expect us to play poorly. Now losers of 3 of 4, we have to conclude, as usual, that we need to upgrade our talent level.

The CMA system has worked well to cover a number of glaring deficiencies.  The lack of rebound minded big men has to be fixed, and our half court defense is too often horrible. No consistenly reliable scorer other than Champagnie. Sometimes I think he presses, just like tonight. I would be more oprtimistic going forward if we had anyone coming in that address these specific issues.

This has been such a roller coaster of a season. I think CMAs teams tend to go on strreaks like this often and is paralell with his sytem. Youll have lowly lows and ultimate highs. I was so low on the team during the 1-5 start and annoyed at the direction of the program but I totally feel that they have improved so much as the season went on and from last year that the program is trending int he right direction under CMA. Still not 100% sold but way more in the positive direction.

We definitely do have a lot of talent hopefully returning and heading into next year if everyone comes back and I believe that Pinzon and Drissa will be solid additions. I still believe we need to bring in more talent to make that big jump. Some posters have said in their posts that during our winning streak we were able to really cover our deficiencies very well for those games. We still have no inside presence (offensively or defensively), we do not rebound all that well, and sometimes get abused in our defensive rotations. We really need a good big for next year, a good shooter, and an athleitc slasher to fill out the roster.Hopefully staff will be able to bring some more guys in to fill out this roster.

First order of business is that Posh is OK, and hopefully will be able to play again this season.

Second order of priorioty would be to win a few more gamnes and at least go the the NIT, assuming it is being held, to get som post season experiejnce.

Third, is for the staff to continue to upgrade the roster, add some rebounding and interiior bulk.  Understand that 2 of the new recruits have some size, but maybe a seasoned grad transfer big would be helpful.

Slow and steady.

Honestly, this team could go on another run like they did before the recent few games. For that reason alone, I'm going to hold off on judging the work as a whole. I think this little break is needed to help Posh get healthy and for Coach get the team back to a better wining mindset.
