(POST GAME) @Providence, Wed. Jan. 15, 8:30p, FS-1 / 570 WMCA

Gee, where are all of our fans that said this was their favorite team in a very long time, maybe ever.

I have been saying all along to withhold judgment until we play half a dozen Big East games. We are closing in on that.

I wouldn't be shocked if we beat Seton Hall at the Garden.

This team will win ugly and lose even uglier. The best thing you can say about them is that they are disrupters. They have shown an ability nearly every game to force turnover, bad shots, and stay in games with hard nosed defense. They take opponents out of their rhythm and except for the tiny problem of not having a consistent offensive weapon (sarcasm), they can stay with anyone - at least so far.

Hold on to your seats. Saturday will tell a lot. Win, and you guys will get off of the mat with our team. Lose, and you may as well hear from your corner, "Stay down, stay down" because the ride will be uncomfortable.

Still and all we will have a few bright moments, and that's the best we can hope for.
So Roberts Rutherford Heron gave us a total of 7 pts what does that tell you Tell me how we win a games with these players I know I will get jumped on but man for man we could have the weakest team in the big East Coach may and should make a change 15 min of hell is not cutting it. So far the basketball pundits that projected us last are looking really smart
It's not working for these guys, but it will for cma players

We're on a bad streak with an undersized, poor shooting team. We'll grab a few more wins before the season's end. Like Paultzman said months ago, "This is a process."
On top of that the play of Heron is equivalent to losing a player to injury. That's what a precipitous drop there's been to his game.
It is almost as critical as UNC losing Cole Anthony. Without Anthony on the roster, the Tar Heels are 2-5. Four different point guards have started for UNC this season. We have no NO point guard. UNC is 14th in the ACC with an 8-8 record. They have 4 and 5 star players. We have Nick Rutherford and Josh Roberts starting.
It's true UNC is struggling and has better talent than we do. But here is a list of players from their roster and the amount of games they've missed:

Sterling Manley-16 (out for the year)

Anthony Harris-11 (out for the year)

Jeremiah Francis-9 (so far, hasn’t returned)

Cole Anthony-7 (so far, 4-6 week time table)

Brandon Robinson-4

Andrew Platek-2

Leaky Black-1

Armando Bacot-1/2

Certainly, Cole Anthony is the straw who stirs the drink for UNC and make 'em go. But his backcourt mates haven't been healthy, either. I mean they have not one healthy point guard on their roster.

Astonishing enough, and due to injuries, our point guard play is better than what UNC is getting from their point guard.
Black is a 6'8 point guard and Bacot is a 5 star player. They were playing with 4 and 3 star talent with the injuries you mention but they have much more talent even with the injuries and are 8-8. So, while they have 4* Black we have Rutherford and while they have 5* Bacot we have Roberts starting. My point is imagine if Heron showed up? We beat Butler and Providence imo and would be 14-4 and on the brink of being ranked. One player like Anthony or Heron can make a huge difference. Heron hasn't been the same player after his injury and it is dictating the season for us.

Leaky Black isn't a point guard. He's more so a small forward than anything else. He can adequately handle the ball, but not what I'd call a point guard.

Yes, Anthony's absence is the big missing part to UNC as I stated earlier. But I think UNC on paper has enough talent to where they should've been able to stay afloat. The problem is their guards are all injured. Bacot is a post player and needs the ball fed to him. With the absence of UNC's backcourt and perimeter players, then it makes Bacot's and Brooks' jobs tougher (although, both players have fared well without the services of UNC's backcourt).

Sure, Black is more talented than either Rutherford or Dunn. But he can't run the point, and definitely can't run it for long durations.

Heron's situation.... Meh. That's another story.

EDIT: Another thing I forgot to mention.... UNC's remaining personnel, outside of Brandon Robinson, can't shoot the ball. Sounds familiar, huh?

Watching our undersized and out-manned teams for so many years is finally affecting my health. That bungle of a play to end the game really got to me. I kicked a box in frustration. A good way to let the steam out. Forgot the box still contained a huge printer. Broke my little toe. If the Johnnies tied the game, I would be walking without a special shoe and a limp.

I hope you are right but we have been disappointed for so long we see what happen against
.SH but the way the Hall been playing we would have to have a great shooting game

I’ve ask this but no one seems to know why Steere has not seen any playing time, thought he was suppose to be good

There have been a number of very good assumptions made about why Steere isn’t playing, but at this point no one knows for certain. I for one am not expecting to see much of him the rest of this season.
