I was going to try to discuss this one, but we just got worked. One thing I would like this staff to impress on our boys going forward is to not give up on the road, as a fan who rarely gets to see us at home these days, I’m tired of the team getting run out of gyms that don’t belong to us.

Well, at least the coach didn’t choose to pet the Hoya mascot & almost get his arm severed! aka Mr. Chris Mullin

Might be best for all involved, to just say goodbye to Heron right now, and wish him luck in the future. If he's not going to come out of this, then as a senior, what's the point of keeping him around? It might also retard the growth of some of the youngsters, if he's playing like this, at their expense.

Georgetown looks a lot better since saying goodbye to Akinjo. Maybe Ewing set a precedent there.

Mike Anderson said he benched Josh Roberts and Julian Champagnie because they weren't giving effort others were. #sjubb

St. John's coach Mike Anderson put blame on himself for the first half performance. Said team wasn't ready to play. #sjubb
Did anyone get the license of the Mack Truck that ran down the Johnnies?

Brutal loss
No true 3 point shooters and no inside presence. I will say this. I think Anderson does a good job coaching but we dont have the pieces. The BE is tough. We dont measure up and this could be a losing season for Anderson. And oh yea Dunn needs to cut to basket AND pass the ball!!

It’s not all Heron’s fault this team is what it is ... it’s largely a team of players who might be second string players at other BE schools . And , there is no one on the team you could regard as a consistent 3 point threat . Sure Figgy can make them but , it’s not automatic like McClung or Blair for G’Town . Frankly , we are , this year, a team of role players up against highly recruited opponents . Coach Anderson is getting the most out of them so far . It’s just not enough . He gets a Pass this season . But the cupboard wasn’t as bare as Mullin inherited but , it’s going to be a rough BE season to watch .

I know we’re all frustrated with Heron but chill broadie.

Agree with this except the comparison of LJ to McClung or Blair from 3. He's as good or better.

Taking a page from Georgetown's book. They're better without Akinjo, and at this stage, we might be the same without Heron. If Heron were a freshman, soph., or junior, I would feel differently, but what's the point of trying to get him right, for a season that looks lost anyway? Might as well lose with the young guys.

BTW, since Heron's left Auburn, they've been to a final four, and are one of the last two unbeatens remaining, this year. I'm sure if you asked Bruce Pearl about that, he would say it goes deeper then just Heron leaving, and it probably is, but man, you've just got to wonder if, great numbers aside, he was hindering that team's potential.

Haven't heard a St. John's coach put a poor effort on himself like that. Players and recruits care about that. #sjubb

I really do not know what to say after this game except hopefully the season can still be salvaged. Winning the next two games against DePaul and Providence is the only way to do that. I just don’t know if this team has it them now. They seem to have lost all confidence

That's a ridiculous comparison. Mustapha has been forcing his shots and needs to drive more like Dunn. Problem is there is no point guard to direct the plays CMA wants to execute. Dunn was the MVP tonight not because of his PG game but because he is an aggressive player. Heron needs to channel his aggressiveness towards the basket like Dunn.
Julian has clearly hit the freshman wall but the experience he is getting is invaluable. I want to see more of Earlington and Steere in his spot. The loss of McGriff is underestimated as Rutherford is not strong with passes. He and Mustapha were turnover machines tonight. Not sure why CMA benched Roberts but hopefully a teaching moment that will help later in the season. Zero blocks when he sits. First truly bad 2 halfs of the season but to all the ladies getting their bloomers wet remember we beat two very good nationally ranked teams. Just need to get better players than the last staff and that shouldn't be hard to do given we had a non-coaching Twitter twit doing all the recruiting.

Let’s face facts, at this point we are a better team when Heron is on the bench. IMO CMA should bring Heron off the bench till he gets his confidence back and starts producing. I’m not blaming him completely for tonight’s results, but he was terrible right out of the gate and so were we. At least when Fig isn’t scoring he’s doing other things to help the team. Heron not so much. He is trying very hard to be the leader, but it ain’t working. While a change needs to be made, throwing him off the team is not even remotely an option.

Any team that cuts a kid midseason for a slump deserves to never get another recruit ever again. The fact that he's a senior makes it a million times worse.

2017-18: 2 losses in ooc, then 0-11 in conf
2018-19: undefeated on ooc, and not so good in conf
This year 2 ooc losses, then this crap show

Very frustrating, it's getting to the point of why watch ooc? To feel good and confident then in conf get smacked down?
WVU and Arizona are pretty good teams, no? We beat them but can't beat anyone in the B.E.?
Not blaming cma, he had only 2 returning starters this season, but i won't care about ooc next year, I guess I learned my lesson.

Agree with that. He didn’t inherit as little as Mullin but he didn’t get much. Unfortunately this season is also one of the strongest anybody has seen which doesn’t help. We need a lot more talent period.

Ive said it many times before, coach mike needs to start his best players. We cant keep going into a 10 point hole right of the tip.

Putt dunn and earlington in the starting lineup!
