Very impressed with our improvement in switching and offensive rebounding. If you remember Mullin had our big men switch outside on a guard and had everyone fall back after a shot. Staff has this group playing in the jock strap defense. Because of the intense running everyone is getting playing time.Heron and Fiquiroa need to be on since it doesn't look like we have outside shooters. Can't get over the consistent, steady play of our freshmen, Champagnie. Not a bit nervous. Not so sure about Williams at point guard. I know it's early but coach Anderson is head and shoulders above Mullin, not even close.

Good analysis. I especially like that right now a lot of guys are getting run. I suspect that we will find a shorter bench than CMA would like because of dropoff in talent. I do think that 9 or 10 may show up in boxscores if they show they can play a lick.

Let's be fair. Mullin had never coached and was not a natural. GSJ can coach but was very young at onset. CMA is a legitimate career coach, and makes no sense to compare to last regime

Been away from this forum for a while. Was at last night’s game, the first time seeing our guys live.

Seemed like they were really playing more structured and organized, both on offense and defense. And it was refreshing to see Coach Anderson as involved in the game as he was. Granted, it’s only the second game they’ve played and both against much lesser talented teams, but I like what I saw last night. Both on the court and on the bench. I know reality will hit us once we start BE play, but I do believe our future looks bright.

On a side note, loved the fact that they brought out a chair for Louie to sit on during the half-time ceremony, and when he got out there, he waved it off! Way to go Louie! Still going strong at 94 years young!

Champaigne is going to be a hell of defender for us these next few years. Great instincts and seems to block shots and contest without fouling.

Sears hit more people and got more offensive rebounds in 15 minutes than Keita did all of BE play last year. That might not be an exaggeration. Really happy we got him for 2 years. How about the two post hand offs for buckets late?

Roberts is a joy to watch.

I liked CMA getting so many guys involved in meaningful minutes. Players will not be unfamiliar with different players in the mix when on the court together. I also expect that the stamina of our team will be a factor later in games, especially later in BE competition.

Stamina could also be a factor for our opposition.

I'm not gonna be so be too quick to dismiss us once conference play begins. We may not fare too well, but it's far too soon to say "reality will hit us once we start Big East play."

"Reality" could be middle of the pack in conference play. We don't know. It's just far too early to tell.

We have two unknown wild cards to consider. The Steere and Dunn situations are a factor. IF eligible (when in Steere’s case) we don’t/can’t really know how they fit in. I do think they should help address two of the known problems, size and PG. However, time missed, even against lesser opponents is not good for us or them. Does anyone know if they are permitted to practice? Even if they are, game action is better. As Knight identified above the use of all players and combinations seems important in Coach MA’s system.

They have been practicing all along but you’re right the game is the game.

Not sure, but almost certainly better than 40 minutes of confusion.

Or 40 minutes of “What the hell?” Kudos to my friend JM for first saying this. :)

They worked for Mike Anderson for 371 wins now. Worked pretty well in SEC for a few years now too. Once again though, he doesn’t play 40 minutes of hell style purely any more. He’s adapted it quite a bit but there’s still a lot of pressure.

Sometimes it seems like 40 minutes of what the hell am I reading. no clue how we finish this season heck it just started but I'm certainly enjoying the style of play more and looking forward to more attempting to rebound after shots

Actually CMA was the one who first said that, at the annual basketball tipoff dinner.
