Today is the first day I’m super angry. Gtiwn was just a bullshit effort all around. I didn’t feel today our guys were outworks at all. Second half beginning we were out coached then didn’t hit key free throws and then completely fd by the refs

I know he’s only a freshman , but if McGriff has any talent , being a pure Pg , he would have helped immensely this year.

Thank god we got the win over Depaul, so that we're at least not talking 0-18 for a season, because this is the kind of loss that could destroy a team. From an effort standpoint, there wasn't much more they could do.
You can see how this year will probably play out. We'll be pumped up to face the great teams, maybe they take us a little lightly, and we put forth a good match, but ultimately just don't have the talent to be victorious (we probably would have been better off losing close to WVU and Arizona - this team only has so many power conference victories in them, so as great as those wins were, maybe it cost us 2 Big East wins?).
Bad teams (or the lesser teams in the league), will be up for us. They see us as a win, and will come out firing.
All of this adds up to a lot of losses.

There's only one player on this team with an above average basketball IQ, and that is Williams, The next best is Earlington. Williams does need to work on his handle, and if that improves he will be our starting 2G next year. Earlington not only plays hard, like many others on this team, but he knows where to be on the floor and makes excellent use of his abilities.
I am always disappointed when we lose but I thought we played hard and it was a fun game. Seton Hall has really good scoring guards and we don’t which makes it an uphill battle. I felt the game was similar to West Virginia. We won that one and lost this one. Just like we beat Arizona and lost to Butler. The road games so far just seem like too much for us. What was a little disappointing was that the Seton Hall fans were so much more into the game then our fans. I think that is solely based on record. If you come to the games then you can cheer. So I thought it was a B for the team and a D for the fans.

I agree about Earlington. I was puzzled lasst year about why he played limited minutes. When he was in, his head was always in the game. I would love to see him go to a camp, learn to shoot the three, and improve his all around game.

There were plenty of our fans, including me, in our section who were standing, yelling, screaming, chanting, etc etc. I don’t know why you would say our fans were not into the game.

Yes, but they're all still probably a little more talented then us in the end. Providence beat us without two guys (though I still think we'll get'em at Carnesecca Arena).

Rutherford is a pure PG too, he’s just overmatched in many cases. I suspect Mcgriff at 5’8 or 5’9 and a freshman, would have had the same issue or even worse. At least Rutherford has the body of a 21 or 22 year old.

Rutherford is a pure PG too, he’s just overmatched in many cases. I suspect Mcgriff at 5’8 or 5’9 and a freshman, would have had the same issue or even worse. At least Rutherford has the body of a 21 or 22 year old.

I understand that we're all frustrated losing a game we led by 13 at halftime. The reality is that Powell is one of the best players in the nation. He scored 23 points in the 2nd half. We just don't have anyone close to his ability right now. It's frustrating to lose games that are winnable but I thought this was the best we've played since the 2nd half against Butler. Moral victories are for losers but the reality is we are losers right now. Hopefully LJ and Heron getting back on track offensively and Roberts coming to life will carry over to our upcoming games.
Powell is reason 1A we lost but 1B has to be Gill. 14 pts, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks in 14 minutes. That's production. Dunn was more concerned with trying to score over Gill than he was at drawing a foul. Heron seemed like the only person on the court who understood how to play against that kind of size. We've been rightfully killing his recent play but got to give credit where it's due. He played a strong all around game and I was hoping we'd be able to get him a decent look from 3 on that last possession.
A few more negative observations:
-Dunn keeping us in late was appreciated but he just needs to be more efficient. it feels like he shoots 4-13. 3-15. 2-11 most games.
-LJ has to get smarter with his fouls. I appreciate his insane amount of steals but he's got to be careful about emotions leading to reaching.
-We need to learn how to beat the press. That adjustment really threw us off the first 10 mins or so of the 2nd half. We've looked bad against it a few times this season and it will show up more and more unless we start beating it.
-And yes, Roberts has to hit s couple of free throws. He just has to. He can't play in close games if he's shooting 30%.
On to Marquette and Markus Howard for another tough one.
