I can't remember when I've been a more frustrated fan than this season...what is wrong with Sears, Caraher? How many games have we lost by 5 or less...answer, too many! Can't seal the deal, Georgetown & Xavier games were a travesty! Love this team for better or worse...but tired of worse, and pray for better!!!

Well, at least the title made no sense.

Well some people are leaders and others are followers. ;) :) Said by someone who rarely if ever starts a thread.

That was rough. Never was in doubt. They naturally have more talent and we brought no energy, enthusiasm and very little effort. Therefore we could not offset the talent disparity. The kids looked tired and somewhat mentally fatigued.

The close loss against Xavier sucked a lot of life out of the Johnnies.

They looked a little confused against SH. There wasn't anyone that could stop Powell and Gill. LJ had 4 rebounds and 19 points. Champagnie 11 rebounds and 14 points. Good effort but it wasn't enough without contributions from Earlington and Caraher.

Nothing to do but shake it off and get ready for Villanova. The game is scheduled and has to be played. Mike's already playing the entire bench. There's nothing he can do differently with this seasons team.

I guess you did not watch any of the games Mullin "coached".

It's pretty clear that this team has to not only play hard for 40 minutes to win, they have to execute for almost all of the 40 minutes. If a team has to do that, then they're either playing a great team in their building, or they're just not that good. Both were the case today, but it's pretty clear that the latter applies to us.

The Xavier game killed this team (took a lot out of me too, so i get it). If we had won that, the chance of a .500 or better season was still in play (though probably still unlikely, given this closing schedule). Now, there's no path to that whatsoever, IMO. I don't see where 2 upsets are coming from. I think everyone involved realizes that now.

But, if Anderson is going to stick with 40 minutes of hell, he needs shot blockers. The defense is too easily beat, otherwise. I was the number one supporter of playing this, so I don't want to give up on it, but shot blockers and rebounders are a must (PG is also a weakness, but that's been discussed here). Roberts does some of that, but we need some who have a better offensive game

Those weren't frustrating just depressing.

Did any team ever get to final four with only one defense of 40 minutes of hell. No
This coach needs to develop some other defenses to mix it up.
We need a big fat guy in the middle to block the middle. And a two three point shooters who can actually score.

1994 Arkansas won the NC under Nolan Richardson employing the 40 minutes of hell defense with CMA as an assistant coach so the answer to your question is yes. Really though 40 minutes of hell is a misnomer for what actually takes place during the games.

Tough to watch this game. Honestly thought we would play tough today. Monte made a good observation in the game thread that the energy level didn’t seem great right from the start. Compounded by fact that we do not have one player who can get hot from the perimeter. Hopefully, this changes next year.

Have to say, Dunn brings it every game. He does force it at times and pound the ball on the perimeter a bit too much for my liking, but he is literally the only one who can go get his own shot. Staff should invest the time and effort necessary to help him improve his shot. If he shot it at even 42-43%, he would be a star. Has a lot of other skills and a warrior mentality.

The Johnnies had only 9 team assists in this game. Setting up shots is critical against SH's superior talent. The Johnnies best chance against SH talented defenders was to setup open shots with assists.

I hope that improves next season. The players have to look around and pass the ball to guys that are open.

I'm not seeing a lot of court awareness and effective decision making this season. A better PG is needed to lead the offense.

We killed it at FT line...92%...Robert's 4-4. A positive in a game of few.

Williams played 30 min and still missing on offense. Concerning for next year.

Or Lavin calling timeouts to extinguish OUR runs.

Watching Creighton destroy Butler. One of main differences between the Blue Jays and us is when they shoot the ball you hear swish and when we shoot the ball you hear as Mr. Dinkins so eloquently put it CLANG.

As a good friend, and long time Johnnies fan said to me, we can shoot the ball as well as any other team. We just can’t get the ball to go into the net. :(

I dont see williams having much of a role next year. The sg juco transfer will be the starter and get most of the minutes. Williams just inst good enough.
