Positives to think about after this game for the season

And Taylor just continues to impress me. I feel for the kid because he only takes good shots and he has to watch Jenkins do whatever he wants whenever he wants.

Taylor is shooting 43.3% from three! He’s spreading the ball around and he’s drawing contact at the rim.
Agree..Hard to explain

We had our chances. Most importantly for me though our effort was up dramatically and if we play with this intensity and keep improving on the defense we will win our share of Big East games. Sucks to lose but this one isn't going to eat at me. I'm more hopeful tonight about the rest of the season

This loss eats the crap out of me, if we were big boy status and established it wouldn't bother me as much, but we aren't, so to me it's like each loss is a step back for us.

I remember the year before the elite 8 year, we were just an avg team, then we won like 8 or 9 straight and people started to notice them.

Needing patience sucks.

RP had a lot invested in Jenkins. He’s entire sales pitch was Joel is the only guy we want to keep and Jenkins is a first round pick.

Joel of course was going to live up to the billing.

Jenkins is just a little out of his depth (it’s an huge step up from second/third option on a MAAC to being the primary option on a Big East team) and coach has too much invested in him to put reigns on. It would require coach to admit he erred annd that’s never been a strong suit of RP.

Unfortunately, that will result in a lot of ill advised plays like our last possession.

The only positive I can think of is we'd need three wins against UCONN to win the Big East tournament. There's no way we'd beat them three times. Two times is more realistic.

I'm not looking for the name calling to be repeated but for someone who had to miss tonight's game can anyone share who the targets were? I'm guessing its Jenkins per usual and maybe Ledlum since he was 1-4 from the FT line.

Yes those were two of the son of a bitches that were targets. Just kidding I didn’t even post commenting on the game. I thought all the players on the team were our guys but I guess not. Good effort tonight we just came up a little short. On to Hofstra.

You got it right; The Usual Suspects……

+99.9

Luis looked great, we’re definitely improving. Pitino‘s right when he says we would have lost that game by 25 a few weeks ago. That said, if Clingan was playing, we weren’t losing that game by only 4.

Agree. And, frankly, Clingan or no Clingan, there didn’t appear to be a 11.5 point disparity between these teams. If the kids continue to listen to RP and play with the effort and commitment to defense that you mentioned, I see good things for us and don’t see us getting dominated by anyone (bad games aside).

Bingo mj. Once again this team is getting better every game. Plus our most talented player is finally healthy. IMO, come February 1st this team is going to be makin a serious run to the big dance. Thank God for coach Pitino!

Pitino’s system is starting to settle in, with the players knowing their roles.

StJ’s now plays team basketball as opposed to a group of basketball players as it did earlier in the season.

That said, a loss is a loss. StJ’s is now 8- 4 with the NCAA Tournaments window narrowing.

I am optimistic for the long term but less optimistic than many posters are for hoped for NCAA Tournament this season.
