Posh Struggles

Posh has unfortunately reached the zenith of his career.
It happens to many college players while in college as stiffer competition takes its toll and opposing coaches know your limitations.
Posh is an average shooters, defender and ball handler.
It is what it is and at another school in a power conference like the Big or ACC, he would be recruited over this year.
St. John's doesn't have that luxury.

Soriano has clearly been our best player this year, but imho Posh is still the heart and soul of our team. Very lucky to have had him for three years, hope we have him for a great senior year as well.
2 more years ! 2 more years! lol .... one can dream

I think it's pretty simple.

This was supposed to be Posh's team.

And then it was cut out from under him.

The work he put in. The hours. The dedication to the school, to the coach when you know EVERYONE was knocking on his door in the past two years of transfer mania. All of that was gone.

He needs the ball in his hands. He needs to be the PG. He needs to be THE MAN even if he's nowhere near the leading scorer.

Instead, it's given to someone else.

Posh said that was fine. That he had faith it would work. So did a lot of us.

It hasn't.

In fact, his replacement has done almost the opposite of EVERYTHING Posh has done right for this coach, for this school.

And so all that loyalty and dedication that Posh put in the program has not been returned.

There's one solution, but CMA has shown to have no backbone. A shame, really, because it's obvious.

Send Curbelo packing.
If that's the case then Posh is selfish

Posh is just not effective. He is not as reliable around the rim as he used to be. He is also not as disruptive as we are all used to. Needs to watch more Marcus Smart tape. He seems like such a good kid tho. We are happy to have him but growth expectations after his freshman year just have not materialized

Sorry, but Posh has done nothing to show that he deserves to run the show. Playing time is not and should not be assigned based on “loyalty.” Posh has been flat out awful this year with or without Curbelo. The poor offensive sets and Curbelo’s presence are likely contributing factors, but ultimately it’s on Posh

Understanding his size makes him attack the basket differently, just once I would like to see Posh focus purely on the hoop. He seeks body contact and contorts his body making the shot more difficult than it should be. Reckless drives leads to no calls even if he does get bumped. I couldn’t believe my eyes when he drove directly into Soriano on a layup attempt.

Posh is a warrior and only knows one speed. Just wish he had a little more finesse when driving to the hoop.

Posh’s basketball skills are significant but putting the ball in the basket is not his forte. His skills require capable shooters to be on the floor with him and that will never happen under Anderson.

His reckless drives lead to him on the floor and our guys playing 5 on 4 defense way too often.
Up 4 with the ball. Posh takes out of control spinning layup (like espken mentioned) then because he was out of control is late getting back and leads to 5 v 4 for nova and Slater gets an and 1 (your point exactly).

I disagree. Look at his fg percentages his first two years. They were terrific for a pg and that’s notwithstanding his poor outside shooting. Kid was a really good finisher until this year. Something is way off!

If I recall correctly he would get a few offensive rebounds and put backs each game the last two years. I don’t remember a single one this year. Those really help the shooting %.

Posh’s regression is one of the most perplexing things in this disappointing season. He seems to be worse in all phases. He isn’t handling the ball well in traffic, he doesn’t finish well around the rim anymore and he’s not playing the passing lanes like he used to. Certainly Curbelo taking over the majority of the ball handling has had an impact - Posh plays more off the ball, but teams don’t even guard him out on the wing. It’s disappointing all the way around, but the bottom line is we have two point guards that cannot shoot, and yet our coach insists on playing them together far too often. It’s the worst of both worlds.

The roster blend and construction seems a problem
