This is great, thank you. Still trying to figure out Lefty’s role. Think it will have to be PG mins knowing we have all these wing guys that was added to yesterday with Odih committing. I think Lefty played with the ball in his hands in Greece so maybe he can do that comfortably if needed.

He was the primary ball handler for Greece in Fiba play and did so well. Obviously a different level here.

If you think of Jackson, Sanon, and Sellers as our 3 starters. Then I think it’s easier to see how Lefty and other back ups fit.

- Darling is the pure ball handler.
- Lefty is the offensive/shooting leaning option off the bench. Plus 3rd PG
- Ayo/Odih is the defensive/athletic leaning option off the bench. Plus Ayo 3rd PF
 
And FWIW I would have to put U Conn ahead of us in the PG department. Jackson has a lot of talent BUT he was inconsistent as a freshman and I don't know how his transition to being a PG is going to go. Darling is coming up a few levels in competition. Going in, Demary and Smith are a much stronger duo on paper. Doesn't mean they won't wind up being outplayed on the court, of course.

Edit - on re-read I now realize you did not put SJU 1 and U Conn 2, you listed SJU independently of the other rankings. But I would put SJU 2.

2. Houston (assuming a Uzan return)
3. UConn
4. UCLA
5. BYU
6. Michigan

But lots of room for argument in there.

Solid. I would probably knock BYU down a little and would have a hard time putting houston or UConn ahead of UCLA.

Very tough to sort out in there. Uzan/Isaacs is very, very high end and a good matching pair (which is not easy to find with Uzan). I like the Demary/Smith group a lot, and I'm comfortable putting them ahead of UCLA even though Dent may prove to be a better PG than Demary standing alone - I'm looking at this as pairs/groups since you presented it that way. If I were just doing starting PGs I would have Dent ahead of Demary although I don't know if that's how it will turn out in the end.

I am probably over-ranking Robert Wright, yeah.

Sky Lindsay averaged 9 & 3 assists in the Big 10 last year and 13 and 3 the year before in ACC. As the second fiddle, I don't think Smith gives uconn the edge IMO.
 
The thing I find interesting with our PG situation is that the spectrum of what can happen is so wide. Ian as a PG is a mystery and Darling is the classic conundrum of figuring out how someone will translate to an upper level. We can wind up having one of the best PG situations in the country, or it can end up being one of the messiest.

Having Rick does make me think it won't be the latter.

We played a lot of last year with Deivon hurt and Kadary not really a true Pg either. We run out offense through a lot of guys and don’t run a typical half court style. If we played like Michigan state or Wisconsin I think it would matter much more.

I trust Ricky P on this one. I see Ian being a bit more like Shamorie Ponds, who could score a ton but was a capable PG. Back then though he was our main/only real scoring option so he had to do it all. Not the case with this roster. In the case that he can’t adapt well, I think the importance of landing Darling was important. Darling could end up being a star in his own right.

I’m just going to assume it was the bottom of the list, you were bored and made up “Finley Bizjack.”
 
The whole obsession with the “starting lineup” including starting PG is off the mark. Dylan Darling is going to see significant minutes at PG. Jackson will “start” but he is a weapon all over the floor. I also expect Lefty to step up and play more. St. John’s has guys all over the floor who can handle the ball period.
