Podcasts and Videos ……

Really enjoyed you guys on this podcast. Great job! My only quibble is I think Sellers may play a bit bigger role than you guys envision but time will tell.
Thank you NC! I I tried to include the difficulty of picking Oziyah’s o/u’s. Somethings gonna have to give somewhere minutes wise for 1-2 of our guys. You very well could be right about sellers.

Thanks Bob!

Would love to hear from you guys what you want to hear this season, what you want to hear more of, preseason content and in season - open to all constructive criticism
Fat Guard 22 provided you with a great list of guys to interview. I'd like to add Billy Paultz, Mel Davis, Bill Schaeffer, George Johnson, Glen Williams, Kevin Williams, Joe DePre, Johnny Warren, David Russell, Mel Utley, Mike Moses and Bernard Rencher. I'm sure I can come up with more (LOL).

I also really enjoyed the podcasts with the assistant coaches and hope that you will continue this feature next season.

Dave, you're doing a fabulous job!!! On behalf of Johnnies fans everywhere, thanks so much for providing us with great content and insights into St John's basketball through the eyes of people associated with the program in the past and the present day. Your efforts are most appreciated!!!

You definitely did make that clear and you guys did a great job. I have a tendency to pick and root for under the radar guys who contribute in different ways. Last year my guy was Scott, a few years before that it was Aaron Wheeler and before that Justin Simon. This year my gut tells me it will be Sellers although the frosh Odih has lots of promise in that regard.

Thank you so much for the kind words. I do hope the coaches continue to come on again this year, I haven't asked but I think we'll make it happen as it's sort of a standing trust thing now.

The list of names you provided would be a major learning experience for me as most of those names predate me so I'd get a kick out of it too.

The “difference maker” this season imo;

I'm now addicted to The Storm Podcast -- Shawnelle Scott and Ty Grant are great and it's a fun listen. The Ed Kull episode included lots of gems from Kull. Ty's the funnier one, but Nelle is no slouch there either.

With RSRR and this plus Dave's Eye of the Storm (I'm probably missing other worthy podcasts) we have a great variety of things to listen to and watch.

Keep 'em coming.

P.S.: The most impressive former player on The Storm podcast IMHO was Boo Harvey. First, his NYC high school career at Andrew Jackson was probably second in the City only to Kareem's at Power. Numbers were off the charts. Same when he got to San Jacinto JC in Texas. Then his many wins and buzzer beaters here at St. John's. His ppg and apg at StJ were great, I loved his game. We also learned that he toured Syracuse and was shown around by Dwayne The Pearl.

Luckily for us he had to go the JC route instead. But my biggest takeaway was not his BB prowess at all. It was his thoughtful answers to their questions, his poise, his maturity and honesty and his genuine humbleness. The hosts delved into his personal life and it turns out he was definitely not a crazy club guy (like Ty and many others were) and took his role as a dad, husband and student seriously.

His mantra was "put in the hard work" and don't expect anything to be handed to you or come easy. Don't take anything for granted and persevere. His biggest regret was not getting drafted. I have no doubt he had NBA talent, but he took his skills overseas and had a nice career.

Another great The Storm podcast Eposide was the one devoted to Malik and had his brother and Brian Reese and also David Cain. Malik was probably St. John's most accomplished BB player on an overall basis. That episode presented Malik as a positive influence on so many people inside and outside of BB he crossed paths with including KG who loved Malik like a brother.

David Cain is a friend of their show and has appeared often, he is a good guy too.

Last mention is the episode with Anthony Glover, like Boo his mantra was work hard and practice harder.

Shawnelle and Ty are must watch/listen especially for SJU diehards. The behind the scenes and lockeroom vibe they share is great. The jabs they throw at each other are entertaining (i.e. comparing their respective elite 8 teams, etc..). The latest pod with Ed Kull was really good, learning his backstory and tours of duty with St. John’s.

NIT-championship teammates Jerry Houston and Bob McIntyre

Larry Lembo is not a SJ guy, but played at Manhattan against us, and then went on to be one of the best refs in the country. I had lunch with him a few years ago, and he has a vast repository of great stories about reffing SJ games, its coaches and players, and the Big East in general. He lives in Nassau County. A great guy. He would be a very fun interview.

The Eye on the Storm podcast has returned! Its season 4 of the pod. New intro, new voices, same love and passion for the Johnnies. From ranked battles early to marquee matcups in Las Vegas and Atlanta…it’s a schedule that will have the Red Storm battle tested.

We preview the big opponents, make predictions and so much more! It’s good to be back! (Next episode comes out next Monday!)
