St. John’s made another statement on Sunday in front of a sold out MSG. It was another win over a ranked opponent, it was another come from behind effort, and It was another win despite poor free throw shooting and defying the statistics. Zach Braziller of the NY Post joins us to recap & preview the road remaining

Great to see students on campus enjoying the hoops success.

Sadly the reporter was forced at gun point to cover the story. More must wins as we have to win BET to qualify for March Madness.

There is just so much comedy waiting to be unleashed about a clueless media.

But I will keep them to myself or I will be forced to ban myself for breaking forum rules. 😇

Everyone has been talking about St. John's lately, they are the hottest team in the tri state and one of the best stories in college basketball. VP and AD Ed Kull returns to the podcast to talk to you guys. From what it's like running a program behind the scenes during such success, to the big topic of everyone's mind - reseating at Carnesecca Arena and MSG - plus we talk about NIL, the upcoming house settlement and what it means financially for the basketball program, the basketball facility, and more in a lengthy and honest conversation with our Athletic Director

Great pod. I think I counted four James Dolan thank you's. Including one when he rattled off donors?!

Yea it's not secret how big the partnership with MSG is and how it's been a rollercoaster of late. They went from like 6 MSG games 2 years ago to likely doubling it next 2 years...as long as the seats are filled MSG is gonna love SJU hard
Don't want to take this thread off-track, but someone else mentioned this idea. It is one of the very few NILs that actually will have an actual immediate ROI. Dolan (via MSG marketing budget) investing even two million dollars can quite easily get that money back via more Garden games (check to MSG), higher ticket prices (bigger $$ for MSG), better attendance & concessions revenue (more money for MSG), and will also allow MSG to spend less money on advertising + discounted tickets.

Truly a win-win. Crazy we didn't have this in place sooner...

In the "bad old days" when we weren't even half filling the Garden, wasn't it costing us money to play there and that's why we reduced the number of games there?

Yeah there's a break-even point for the school since we have to pay a fee to play games there. But the upside of playing there, obviously, is tremendous in a multitude of unique ways.

Great pod again Dave. Recommend everyone to listen, a lot of "news" that people here will find interesting. lol

Appreciate you! Ed is great. Articulate and wont' hide. He has heard the noise and reached out to me to do this because he wanted to talk to everyone and be transparent.

It is nice to be able to put the impact Harrington and Gempeshaw had on destroying this basketball program for 3 decades out of my mind. Every hiring they made since Louie retired had their warts and red flags that ultimately hurt the image and success of the program.

The way Father Shanley is rebuilding this basketball program is nothing short of remarkable.

The foresight to realize all the great things that would come if he hired Rick Pitino was amazing. Father Shanley had a conviction and made the hire of the only person (in my opinion) who was BIG enough and available to quickly remove all of the stench hanging over the program. Thankfully he blocked out all the noise coming from the people who in the past should have never been involved in making the coaching hiring decision for the university's flagship program.

Thank you Father Shanley

Great episode. I think a big takeaway for people concerned with losing “their seats” is the point ed made about msg. We only have 5,600 season ticket holders and current holders get priority. There’s plenty of room at msg so you probably won’t get moved too far if you don’t want. Carnasecca will probably involve more moves but we’re going to play less there anyway

I think once they are done using their abacuses and give us our rankings it will be helpful to know where we stand.

Dont believe that for a second. One big donation gets a non sth great seats.
