Likely Thursday or Friday...I'm traveling on Friday so there probably won't be a DePaul recap so this will be in it's place. Episode was recorded this morning.
Great to see students on campus enjoying the hoops success.
Sadly the reporter was forced at gun point to cover the story. More must wins as we have to win BET to qualify for March Madness.
Everyone has been talking about St. John's lately, they are the hottest team in the tri state and one of the best stories in college basketball. VP and AD Ed Kull returns to the podcast to talk to you guys. From what it's like running a program behind the scenes during such success, to the big topic of everyone's mind - reseating at Carnesecca Arena and MSG - plus we talk about NIL, the upcoming house settlement and what it means financially for the basketball program, the basketball facility, and more in a lengthy and honest conversation with our Athletic Director
Yea it's not secret how big the partnership with MSG is and how it's been a rollercoaster of late. They went from like 6 MSG games 2 years ago to likely doubling it next 2 years...as long as the seats are filled MSG is gonna love SJU hardGreat pod. I think I counted four James Dolan thank you's. Including one when he rattled off donors?!
Don't want to take this thread off-track, but someone else mentioned this idea. It is one of the very few NILs that actually will have an actual immediate ROI. Dolan (via MSG marketing budget) investing even two million dollars can quite easily get that money back via more Garden games (check to MSG), higher ticket prices (bigger $$ for MSG), better attendance & concessions revenue (more money for MSG), and will also allow MSG to spend less money on advertising + discounted tickets.Yea it's not secret how big the partnership with MSG is and how it's been a rollercoaster of late. In the "bad old days" when we weren't even half filling the Garden, wasn't it costing us money to play there and that's why we reduced the number of games there?Don't want to take this thread off-track, but someone else mentioned this idea. Truly a win-win. Crazy we didn't have this in place sooner...
Yeah there's a break-even point for the school since we have to pay a fee to play games there. But the upside of playing there, obviously, is tremendous in a multitude of unique ways.In the "bad old days" when we weren't even half filling the Garden, wasn't it costing us money to play there and that's why we reduced the number of games there?
Appreciate you! Ed is great. Articulate and wont' hide. He has heard the noise and reached out to me to do this because he wanted to talk to everyone and be transparent.Yeah there's a break-even point for the school since we have to pay a fee to play games there.
