Please Don't Ban me...Again

My only thing is, and this isn't directed at Joe, but isn't allowing banned people to just create a new username and start posting again against what the system is supposed to be about?

You make a valid point. However. Joe is as passionate a SJU fan as anyone, I say give him another chance.

As one of the other moderators here, I'd suggest this that you discuss your return to the site with the mod's directly, and in private, instead of signing up time after time under some new incarnation.

You were banned for a reason.

Simply changing your name and pretending to be another person altogether doesn't earn you a get out of jail free card or a clean slate.

Ultimately, all we ask is for people to play nice and abide by the rules of the forum.

But slapping on a dumb disguise and sneaking in the side door isn't fooling anyone, it isn't going to work and its not going to get you back into anyone's good graces.

Just makes you look like this guy:

He'd be great for the next AD job at Rutgers

LOL!!

I come in peace. All I want to do is talk about SJ basketball. Thank you. %-)

As a moderator Here are a few suggestions if you really came in peace.
Don't spam the board
Don't try to have the last word
If a discussion is not going your way drop it forget just let it be and take a break
Try to avoid topics concerning politics and subjects others might find offensive

In my opinion so far you are failing on all counts. If you really came in peace as you say give it a rest for a few days.

I'm all for giving Joe another chance as well, and I'd rather not see people banned in general. But it does seem we've entered a vicious cycle of banning and re-registering.

Is there anywhere on the site where the rules are explicitly laid out? Because there is a difference between being annoying and breaking rules for which you should be banned.
RMNorth laid out some good guidelines, but is getting the last word really a rule for which you can be banned? It seems like more a courtesy, and a should-rule, rather than a must rule.
Spamming, trolling, and posting about politics/religion outside of the "players lounge" - that's a different story. That ruins the board for everyone else, and should a be reason to kick someone out.

With that said, the moderators here do a good job.

I also don't agree with people being banned, and then re-registering under another screenname (one poster here has done it numerous times, and currently has more than one screenname on the site). But Joe3 isn't one to troll, bait, or flame. He's annoying, but never one to stir up trouble.

I don't know whether he broke any rules or not (maybe, he did something in a post I didn't see), but other than being annoying and, occasionally spamming, then I don't know what he did either. He'll probably be best served to choose his battles more carefully.

I agree, the mods generally does a good job on this site.

Desco80 I wrote what I wrote because I knew it was Joe3 who is posting under the new alias. Joe3 spammed the board endlessly so I was trying to give him advice to walk away and stop trying to get the last word in. I was attempting to be polite and asked him in different ways not to spam the board. I don't believe I have ever asked another poster to attempt to refrain from getting the last word in. Most of us have the courtesy to know that fellow posters do not want to read the same thing over and over. Joe3 seemed to have difficulty graping that idea.
With that said I was trying to give him guidelines to follow which would not lead to the revocation of his posting privileges. I hope he gets it this time around as he is a passionate fan of the program which is something SJU can certainly use.

After losing five straight including four to the Mets and with the Bosox up next, come Monday morning Joe Girardi might be asking Valentine if he can borrow for that disguise.

Well said North! I know from experience. LOL!!
That said, Joe3 never annoyed me and he is exuberant to say the least but I hate his latest name!!
Can we get Joe to change it back to Joe3 ??

At the risk of "trying to get the last word in" (and I'm really not), I thought spamming on forums was considered posting unwanted, unrelated material over and over. If you look at ESPN forums, a perfect example of spamming would be "LEBRON WEARS HIS MOTHERS DRESS LEBRON WEARS HIS MOTHERS DRESS LEBRON WEARS HIS MOTHERS DRESS" over and over. On here I try to stay within the conversation and sometimes (and I know I'm not the only one guilty of this) it veers a bit off topic, but I didn't think that was considered "spamming" on here. I'm not trying to sell myself or anything, but permanently banning me would mean losing one of the few young, truly passionate fans that actually attends SJU. I don't ever intend half of what I'm accused of...I may be annoying at times, but it's not like I'm cursing people out or purposely trying to get people going like others said. I know ignorance of rules is no excuse...with that said, I'd appreciate another shot and thanks for not banning me already. By the way, that Bobby V incognito picture was one of my best memories ever. Might even be my avatar.
