Player Improvement

Talking about players and improving. Earlier this year I posted about the 4 year growth of Casey Prather of #1 ranked Florida. Here is another remarkable story of a kid improving over the course of his college career.

Player improvement- what a novel concept! :)

Those are the only players i mentioned because they are the only ones playing significant minutes. Jordan is a freshman and there just isn't enough time to evaluate him. On the bright side, no one has really regressed that much. Have we improved? I guess it depends on what your definitition of improvement is.

I understand that its hard to measure improvement based soley on numbers, but I do believe that there have been some improvements. Over the past month or so, Obekpa has developed into a solid offensive option. I think Harrison's development not only as a player, but as a person/leader overall he has been outstanding. Jakaars numbers are down, but that is due to the fact that he is shooting less, and it would be hard to find someone who doesn't believe that his mid-range game has developed nicely. Green has developed into a fairly consisten 3pt threat (40%), but the key in his development has been him playing in the right position.

The only one that I guess really hasn't 'improved' has been Dom. But Dom plays the exact way that most experts predicted him to play, and he matches exactly what the scouting report said about him coming out of high school. He was known as a high energy, highly emotional, defense oriented player. And that's exactly what he is. We were never going to get more than 5 or 6pts per game out of him. He only shoots the ball 5 times a game. The problem with him is that he is not even a threat to score most times, which can allow defenses to relax on him.

With this team, I think its hard to measure player improvement because it seems like every year their roles are changing....

Harrison has taken a giant step backwards from being a good leader since the win streak ended. He's looked much like he did last year, complaining about every call and getting heated during the game. Someone needs to calm him down

Pretty good post. Sure there's been some improvement, maybe not enough, but comparing these guys to Casey Prather on stats is stupid. Prather didn't have 4 year growth, as the OP claims. ;) He essentially sat for two years and watched and then put in a little good work last year before breaking out as a senior, despite being the #52 recruit in the country coming out of HS. Our top recruits were thrown directly into the fire playing 30-35 mins per game as freshmen, and freshmen who really weren't qualified to play those kind of minutes. I also am of the opinion that stunted some of their development.

I'd add Kudos to Billy D keeping the #52 player in the country on campus and engaged playing 7 mins per game as a frosh and soph. Not many of today's players would stick around for that. Surprised he didn't transfer at Xmas of his frosh year. :0

No need to take it personally.
I've been trying to work Super Mario Bros into a thread for years and just saw an opening.
