Phil Greene draft prospects

Yes, Phil can shoot the ball, but I don't see him as an NBA level talent. He'll definitely play professionally somewhere though. Can have a nice career for himself (see Tyrone Grant).

How Phil Greene finally became a fan favorite:

“We hate Georgetown. We hate them. We don’t like them at all,” said Greene, not wanting to leave any ambiguity on the subject.

Reads like Lavin hype machine without any real specifics but if not very excited for Phil that's he's getting some real looks

About the same odds as Norm Roberts winning an NBA championship I'd say

“He’s fundamentally a very solid point guard ... You could say he’s like a smaller Sleepy Floyd,” Lavin said when asked for an NBA comparison.

Sleepy Floyd scored 12,000 points in the NBA and as many points in college as Chris Mullin. So maybe a drowsier Sleepy Floyd would be a better comparison.

"With brilliant scoring performances, late game heroics, and a second straight NCAA Tournament appearance, Greene closed out his St. John’s career in style."

Did I miss something? When did we make 2 straight tournament appearances?

He's definitely better than Cedric Jackson who actually played a few games in the NBA so you never know what the future holds.

I wouldn't mind him back for another year if he had indeed sat out his sophomore year.

Yeah, that is a stretch.

It'll be tough for Greene, Pointer, and Harrison to make the NBA, but they absolutely can play in the higher Euro leagues. Still hoping for the latter two to luck into the perfect NBA situation, though.

The best part is that they all have their degrees, though, so they can land on coaching staffs back in the states when their careers are done.

Job of a coach to hype his players and try to keep their name in the discussion. Can't fault LAvin here, and actually give him credit for it.

Agree with you 100% Beast! My Lavin hype machine comment was trying to distinguish the fact that there didnt seem to be any specifics of legit high interest from NBA teams...more Lavin trying to spur that kind of interest for his player.

It's good press, and he stands to have a nice career in Europe. If the injury bug gets him again, he has a diploma, I wish him the absolute best.

I wish PGIV nothing but good luck. He was a good citizen on a team with its share of problem players, and one of the few players that could shoot consistently at a high level.

I wish him good luck too, but that second part is just not accurate. He shot in the 30s from the field his first two seasons here, and in the 20s from 3pt.

He did become a better shooter his senior year.

He shot 40% from 3 junior and senior year. This past season he shot 45% from 3 in conference play. That's very impressive.

He shot 40% from 3 his junior year and over 45% in BE play, after a slow start OOC, his senior season to lead the conference. That's consistent enough for most.
