Paul Hewitt

Sources: Yale's James Jones, Paul Hewitt, and former Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson have now all emerged as candidates for the head coaching vacancy at St. John's. All three had dialogue with the school today. No timetable for a final decision. #SJUBB
Well at least they talked to Anderson. Not ideal but the best news in days. Would be a good style for LJ too.

My teachers always told me when your not sure of the answer on a mutiple choice test then to go with the longest answer. Please take this advice sju.
I was taught, when in doubt, always pick "C"

He fact that Hewitt’s name is still in play after decades is absurd. SJU needs to move on unless he wants to be an assistant. I know he had some success in the past, but I was never a fan.

Please NOT Hewitt! He was fired by George Mason, and has not coached in college since. George Mason is in a lesser conference than the Big East.

If you are going to interview a former SEC coach with no ties to the area go after Billy Kennedy. Much better than Anderson.
Anderson by far the best of the bunch. It seems having a black HC is emerging as a recurrent theme as almost all of our candidates are.
Yeah. Like Porter Moser and Bobby Hurley and Ryan Odom and Tim Cluess.

Those guys our administration didn’t want except for Moser. Gempesaw and Oliva rejected all the others... I didn’t say I had a problem with it. I just wish they went after some more successful guys than Boynton, Jones, Hewitt etc... I’m waiting for Oliva to go after Al Skinner!

If that is the pool, Anderson is the ultimate no-brainer.

Unfortunately, the two guys interfering seem to have negative brain.

Maybe we should pump up someone we dont want then they will pick the one we like in spite. Every coach's name that came up we would approve gets cut off shortly after. Maybe Dumb and Dumber read this site lol

Anderson, JJ, Hewitt between the three. My recollection is fuzzy but I wasn't a Hewitt fan before. To be honest he's been such a non entity in coaching for so long I can't remember what didn't impress me...I just remember thinking back then that he wasn't right. I also remember others really liking him so what do I know.

And of course, Jeff Goodman hates it, so that makes me like him (Anderson) even more.

Ironically, he endorses Hewitt.

Why do I get feeling Jones is choice and other two are due diligence guys?

It’ll be interesting to see whether those 2 boobs appear at the games next year. Especially, if the roster is depleted and the on court product stinks.

They better hope he has the ability to re-recruit the current roster.

St Johns struggling is good for his brand.

How long ago was Hewitt's appearance in the national championship?
Jarrett Jack just retired from the NBA

Hoover Administration

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but wasn't Paul Hewitt the favorite over McKillop, until Louie called Jarvis for an opinion re Hewitt, and ended up allowing Jarvis to promote himself and getting Louie's recommendation. Harrington picked Jarvis and the rest is history.
