Paschal Chukwu, C (PROVIDENCE VERBAL)

It looks like Lavin's chances of bringing in a couple of top flight recruits this year are dwindling by the day.

Wow it looks like we're going to head down the JC route. . . With Sanchez and gift leaving we are going to be thin up front.

Well, we found both those guys in JC, so it's not the end of the world.

And we should wait to see what spring brings before assuming we will indeed go JC. If our record matches our talent, we will get in the mix for some good players at the end of the season.

While there are many questions about the program, the last thing I worry about it Lavin's ability to find/sign talent.

“@terrence_payne: Fairfield Prep center Paschal Chukwu just tweeted he will play for Ed Cooley at Providence College #pcbb”

If Cooley gets himAbu and Terrell that would be huge. I guess the best class they have ever gotten. Top 10 ?

Their Ledo/Dunn class was highly ranked too for some reason.

Add Terrell and Abu to Lindsey and Chukwu one would think that could be top ten class. Not saying Terrell & Abu are locks, but possible. To me Cooley is doing a good job working the fertile NE area, which is rife with prep schools.

That would be a top ten class for sure. I think providence gets one of Abu or Terrell if not both. Ed Cooley is quietly becoming one of the better recuirters in the country.

Not a huge fan of these mammoth bigs. As soon as they are able to wipe their asses without falling over, they go pro. Not too many NCAA champs in the last 15 years with a 7'0 or taller star big man.

I'd take an athletic 6'9" kid any day of the week. But my one fear with that is running into a mammoth big who has the game of his life in the second round of the tournament.

Getting them into the door is one thing.

Getting them to develop is another.

Cooley hasn't proven that yet. But I cannot wait to see what Brandon Austin brings to the table this year.

I said 2 months ago I did not like our progress top kids did not seem to mention us Providence doing a good job

Do you remind us of your predictions that don't pan out?

That might be a longer thread than the Iona one over on Johnny Jungle. :cheer:

ESPN article talking about package deals had this. Guessing the Seton Hall fans helped with the calculations.

Abdul-Malik Abu (Marblehead, Mass./Kimball Union) & Jared Terrell (Weymouth, Mass./Brewster Academy)
Probability -- 13 percent

Abu and Terrell came up the ranks playing side by side on the travel circuit with Expressions Elite, and have had their recruitments linked since the summer of 2011. While both have publicly downplayed the possibility of a potential package deal, the fact that they’re set to announce at a joint press conference Sept. 7 adds fuel to the conspiracy theorists’ fire. With both players now down to four schools, Providence is the sole remaining option for both. No one has worked harder than Ed Cooley on Abu, but at this point the ESPN 100 power forward seems to be leaning more toward Florida or N.C. State, while Terrell could be starting to favor Oklahoma State. The reality though is that no one knows for sure until they flip over their hats.

Nice to see PC getting lots of talent. If anyone has to, I'd rather PC. They do things the right way, have high academic standards without apologizing to anyone in favor of quotas, and have gone through similar trials and tribulations as us. Schools like G'Town, Nova, Xavier, Marquette, etc. will be fine...we already know that. So it's important that schools like PC, SJU, Seton Hall, DePaul, Creighton, etc. step up.

I used to root for them most of the time, but I think their coach is a huge d-bag.
