Overseas Elite / ESPN / Now
Impressive.

DJ is now 28 yo. I would love to see him get one more shot at making an NBA roster. Hard to believe he is much of a drop off from most benches and he is a really solid defender.
Fran commented on that last night: Fans wonder why these guys aren't in the NBA, and it's because there's so much money to be made overseas now, it doesn't make sense to be the last guy on the bench. I was a little shocked by that, but I've never checked the salaries of the lowest paid guy on each team.

I guess there is a point where if you love playing and make enough money, you're happier playing all the time and traveling the world rather than making triple $ and only playing in blow out wins/losses

Yes, I am curious about how much guys like DJ and Dwight Hardy are making. I just look at a guy like Ron Baker on the Knicks who recently sign a two year, 8 Million dollar contract with all guaranteed money. Is he that much better than DJ? Actually, is he better at all?

I guess I just like to see our guys get their$.

It's not just the salaries, it's the perks like apartments, cars, living expenses etc. that sweeten the pot. Plus, if they keep the money overseas and have a residence there they don't have to pay U.S. taxes.

Also, do not discount living outside the bubble of American racism for the first time. European immigration crisis may be changing that but several friends who played Euroball were much affected.

I actually like it. at first thought it seems actually really crazy, but it definitely works in 90% of games. You get rid of auto fouling and the winning team running out the clock. I'm not sure I'm ready to endorse it for the college game though. You have to implement it on some trial basis before you would get me to buy into it
I personally am not a fan of the Elam ending. I don't like the idea of completely changing the way a game is played once it has already started. And they add 7 pts to the make the final target score? Why 7? Why not 8, 9, or 10? It sounds like thats just a random number they came up with no rhyme or reason. And what's going to happen when both teams go cold from the field? It's unlikely, but definitely possible. That 4 minutes of playing time could turn into a lot longer if the teams all of a sudden can't score. Overall, I just don't like it.

Taxes: If you are a U.S. citizen or resident alien, the rules for filing income, estate, and gift tax returns and paying estimated tax are generally the same whether you are in the United States or abroad. Your worldwide income is subject to U.S. income tax, regardless of where you reside.

If you paid or accrued foreign taxes to a foreign country or U.S. possession and are subject to U.S. tax on the same income, you may be able to take either a credit or an itemized deduction for those taxes.

Basically, if you are US citizen, you are paying your taxes to Uncle Sam. This is why many former US citizens that lived abroad for a long time and have dual citizenship - and then they renounce their US citizenship.

Thanks for the clarification, I was just repeating what Fran said.

Doubt that it is just a random number. With all the statistical analysis being done today in all sports would have to think for this guy to come up with this idea he did the research.

Elam did state that he will analyze the games this year and possibly make adjustments to the Elam Ending
Very good read on Deadspin about TBT and this team.

https://deadspin.com/how-one-team-built-a-dynasty-and-won-7-million-in-the-1828129302

Great quote from DJ:

“We don’t pick just any guys,” Kennedy said. “We pick guys who fit our team as far as high character and not being selfish and guys who can really mesh together.”
Heartwarming that guys--steadfast pros all--banded together to play solid team ball against perhaps stronger teams--on paper--and are undefeated, 25 - 0, over 4 seasons.
Also very sweet, 3 former Johnnies are on the team.
Great read.
Thanks.
