Orlando Sanchez so far (Rumble in the Garden)

I might not be correct but i think Cook broke Mark Jackson's assist record (pg) in first 2 games. 2nd game improved his record.
Kid was a stud. Wish we kept him around.

More like, wished he stayed in school. Obviously, he felt he was ready to make the jump. Not to mention, he didn't get along with Jarvis.

He can't be happy with riding the pine most of the night

something bothered him at end of game tonight...he was taken out and Lavin was giving him a pep talk

Sanchez?

The underwhelming offensive game of Sanchez has been a big part of the problem thus far. He, along with Sampson and Harrison, are rarely in a planned offensive flow. All three chuck up shots like a madonna prayer when they should make the extra pass. Like Jordan, he seems to detest being taken out of the game and that will change when he starts to play better and understand his role.

I noticed that , Lavin went over and started talking to him and it seemed like rubbing his shoulders.

I would bet that had he played for Longwood last night, he would have lit us up for 30 plus points.

Maybe that's because he's hoisting up threes, which except for the first one of the year, he hasn't made any.

Is it because he and Karr know that their future at any level in the pro game is going to depend on their ability to make the mid range and further J?

Maybe it's b/c he realizes he isn't as good as everyone said he was

scouts and NBA teams are aware of Sanchez and his NBA ability. If coached pushed more of the offense thru him. let him work in the low post .score rebound and dish feel we would be better He is def going to the next level he just has not had the opportunity to show case his skills

I really like Sanchez as a college player, but he is clearly not an NBA player. He might get a summer league shot, but he would be cut before long. He's too old and not athletic enough. What position would he play? No chance at the SF. Can you imagine him guarding Kobe or Ginobli?

We need to stop thinking everyone on the roster is an NBA player! Moe Harkless did a number on everyone. Nobody on this team will be on an NBA roster next season.

Still baffled on why he was hellbent on attending SJU for one year when he is 24 years old and has international experience. Why not just sign with a European team? Unless he thought that a year at SJU could be his ticket to the NBA? His he bought in to his own hype.

Have to agree completely. If you aren't putting up big numbers in Junior College or against incredibly inferior athletes so fat this year, no reason to think the NBA will be interested. If he really was as good as the hype, he would be in the NBA already.

Just maybe the young man realized that there is life after basketball and a college degree would be helpful. I am truly amazed at how some people post things on here without ever talking to the person they are writing about. Just maybe Orlando was thinking I have spent three years in college why not stay and get my degree. This way when I am finished playing wherever, I will have something to fall back on.
Additionally, if you knew his family situation, you would understand that being the first person in his family to get a college degree is very important to him.

Or maybe he thought that his coaching staff and school went all out for him and fought for the injustice that was the NCAA ruling? His own hype? Sometimes I'm not sure what people are talking about? Kid has been playing a long time trying to make is way in basketball. If he had some huge offer, he probably woluld have taken it 2-3 years ago. SJU fought hard to get him eligible, and he's playing now and hopefully bettering himself and his game. Amazing how everything seems to be blamed on a selfish ploy.

Staying at St. John's was the right choice. He can earn his degree and he can legitimize his basketball resume for a career overseas. Juco and a summer with he Dominican national team doesn't quite have the same ring as a starter for an NCAA tournament team out of the Big East.

He'll make some money in basketball, but it will certainly not be in the NBA. I wish those posts would stop.
