One step forward, three steps back

Post is understandable but in my view does not credit the ability and leadership of Ponds and Owens. They have no intention of losing and if the other players can contribute and avoid turnovers I believe we will be just fine

Either beast woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning or Realfan made him write a hostage post.

Wrong side of bed. Rough week in the office. Reasonable responses and stand corrected. Still and all we've lost a bunch of guys that would add depth to a good team.

This has to be a troll post, or OP is a naturally depressed poster.

I have no idea what any of you guys see about Freudenberg, but he just wasn't built for the Big East. He missed open threes, lack defense, and couldn't stay on the floor. Rather have Sid Wilson than Freudenberg.

No stud Freshman?

I believe Sid Wilson was a top 50 player in the 2018 class, and made the decision to come here now. Seems like a Stud to me.

About losing Ellison, sad to see him go, but how many times were you guys wailing on him last year? Remember the " what a bonehead play by Ellison", " Ellison thinks he's better than he is", " Another turnover by Ellison", " Ellison is a Low IQ player", etc, etc. That seemed to be a constant theme on this site.
Having Simon replacing him seemed smart hence the reason he decided to leave.

Losing Mussini was very unfortunate, but not the end of the world. Tremble shoots around 45 percent from three. It is what it is. I respect Mussini for doing a lot for the team ( playing point guard, moving to the bench the next year), but c'mon now. He's not Jesus Shuttlesworth.

Pieces added >> Pieces lost.

These guys look good to me

Looks like kids have hit the weights. Amar looks a lot stronger and Clark looks like a bull, he won't get push d around.

I hate to lose players but except for Mussini, the other guys were easily replaced by better talent. Freudenberg was just out of his element here. Ellison was talented but very inconsistent. Williams was never in shape enough to play hard and fast basketball. Sid Wilson makes up for both Freudenberg and Ellison even as a freshman. Simon and Clark are starting material. None of the players mentioned were first 5 talents and "my" only disappointment was taking a step back with losing both Sima and the drag queen at the critical 5 position. Improve the defense and rebounding and we could be a borderline NCAA tournament team. If we continue to suck at both one of the coaches will have to step aside.

Agree Muse " they have no intention of losing".......
Chris Mullin has won all his life and came here to win.
Shamorie Ponds played this past season & gave everything he had to win!
Sidney Wilson turned down other offers to play as a Red Storm and win.
We follow this team and this site because winning is in our blood, bringing the winning days CM saw as a player back to today with CM as our coach.
Passion. Redmen.
A whole lotta good going on down here.
I like what I see.
The Ws are coming. The Ws are coming. Send the word, send the word over there...

All the best

Sid is new to weights so good thing he is in the back. :)
A lot of flexing after lifts looks great for the photo op but they will have to kick some ass on the court to make the workouts pay dividends.
Last year we were given hope with a similar photo. Unfortunately on the court they played soft. Almost as if they had physically split personality disorders. :)

Losing upperclassmen with some skill, and continuity, is never a great thing. It seems to have become the norm at many places in college basketball, no just St. John's.

On balance, I expect Simon and Clark to be a substantial upgrade over Malik and Williams. I thought Freudenberg would be a bigger contributor last year, so perhaps many of us in that camp as well as the talent evaluators missed on that. Or perhaps we would have seen a different Rich this year. I don't think you can say either way. I think Mussini is a hit to some extent because he improved from his freshman year, is a great kid and had some moments where he provided offense off the bench. There would be a role for him with only 3 guards likely to play most of the minutes. I like the Trimble pickup, but I don't expect him to be better as a freshman than Mussini would have been next year. Still, it is a manageable loss in my view.

Would I prefer that Williams, Malik, Moose and Richard be 8th - 11th guys off the bench? Definitely. Do I think Sid Wilson can perhaps turn into a valuable reserve next year - from what I've read, yes. If he does that, and Amar/Trimble are the 9th/10th guys, I still think we should have a better season if 1-7 play how we hope they will.
