I'm not the one who locked the thread I think you are talking about...

Notwithstanding that fact, if you are going to call us moderators fascists, then you are welcome to leave and never come back.

Thanks for nothing.
Fascism.
you could always start your own website and call it redstorm.com

And for anyone complaining about free speech and this isn’t directed at just Theo maybe first acknowledge what’s been free the entire time and that’s the website which Paul pays out of his own pocket money wise and time wise so maybe in this time of holiday giving why not make a donation to the person who pays for it all

Bye Theo.

Once a Redmen, always a Redmen (and yes,
I know it’s proper English for me to spell it Redman here, but that wasn’t our name). And for the pc’ers out there, it took a while, but I like our Red Storm name now too. Just not as much as our original name.

And there's a button at the top to donate.

I go away for a few days and I come back to this? Crazy.

My two cents, and feel free to fact check me on this beacuse I wasn't around for most of it, but...

The name "Redmen" didn't come from anything related to Indians, American or otherwise. It was derived from the color of the uniforms the team wore. Syracuse are the "Orangemen" for the same reason. Finding offense in that word is absurd, unless you also feel that Cuse is racist towards Oranges as well.

The Indian Chief or Indian Warrior iconography came about much later when it was in vogue to use images like that in association with sports teams. Eventually society realized that it was using racist imagery in many cases and like most sports teams, St Johns chose not to actively or passively insult a minority group of Americans. I applaud that decision. I'd have preferred to keep the original Redmen name and ditch the offensive imagery, but understand the reasoning behind making a clean break.

My view on the old Redmen gear is simple. If it doesn't have the offensive imagery, go a head and wear it proudly. The name Redmen predated the Indian Logo by what...a half century or more? If you are sporting the Indian stuff, you should know that its offensive and reflects poorly on our fanbase and program. You have every right to be offensive, but you have to expect to take heat for that.

As for the BS comparison to the confederate flag...if you sport that disgrace in public you are supporting traitors to the United States and our constitution. It's your choice and your right to do that in this country, but only because the people that flag represents LOST the war they started. I hope you can appreciate the irony...
But they are still fighting that war.
Which makes it even more offensive.

Sorry wearing a shirt with a confederate flag on it or driving a car with a confederate flag license plate on it is making a very ugly statement about the worst blot on our country's history. It has everything to do with race just like that war did. Thank God they lost. Not remotely comparable to the redmen nickname or logo.

I wear it when appropriate.
Like doing something in Manhattan, there's no reason to, but when going to a cw battlefield for 4-5 days, I will put it on one of those days.
Not to honor their cause, but they're also Americans, I honor all Americans.

That war was freaking brutal, having brother killing brother, cousin killing cousin.
The way they fought way insane walking side by side up to the opposition line seeing guns aiming at them and they still kept going.
The 2nd day alone at Gettysburg ranked 10th in deadliest of all battles.
The wheatfield alone saw 4000 killed.

Plus i got it as a gift from a southern lady because she knew I'm into cw stuff, and I'm not throwing it away.
I didn't buy it.

Couldn't you find some other way to honor your fellow Americans that hundreds of millions of your other fellow Americans don't find disgustingly offensive? Seems easy enough.

Why fascism? Why not socialism or communism? Or DU? None of them believe in freedom of speech.

Not that I condone fascism, or any -ism for that matter. -Ism's in my opinion are not good. A person should not believe in an -ism, he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me." Good point there. After all, he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people.

I'll honor them how I want. It's their flag and I'll honor them with it. If i know I'm going to a Confederate cemetery I'll buy little Confederate flags and put it on their geaves, like with union men, i buy American flags and give those men them.
That's my way of honoring them, and if others don't like it, i really dont care.

I'm done with this subject because I know the board is censored

No the board is not censored otherwise your point of view wouldn't be on view for all to see. The opposite view wouldn't be if the slaveowners had won. Fine people on both sides I guess as we've heard before. So I assume you think it perfectly fine for the folks in Germany to sport swatstikas to "honor" the brave men who fought in that war for the "motherland". If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is likely a duck.
