I saw Bird play an NCAA Tournament game in person as game was in Cincinnati while I was in law school at Dayton.
I was a Houston fan during Olajuwon's sophomore and junior seasons, respectively. Like you, my dislike/hate for Georgetown came after they beat Houston for the championship, along with my oldest brothers' love and trash talk for the Hoyas.

Michael Young. Rob Williams. Williams was a lil older than the main "characters." He, like Olajuwon (Akeem), had his first name on the back of his jersey (Rob).

no as 10 year old kid fell in love with the name Alabama, QB Joe Namath, head coach in houndstooth hat Bear Bryant, color of jerseys crimson. They actually lost 1965 Orange bowl game to Texas 21-17 when refs mistakenly ruled Namath hadn’t crossed the goal line on a QB sneak from the one. Wish they had replay back then. Franklin passed away in February. Rob Williams passed away in 2014. The latter was a third-team AA during his last season at Houston (as a junior).

Hard to believe that team didn’t win a title. Really shows how deep the talent was in the college game back in the 80s.
Ewing unfortunately owned Olajuwon in college and Olajuwon unfortunately owned Ewing in the pros.
