Nova Predictions

Here we go.......... Nova is 9 - 10 , 2 - 5 in the Big East. Is this a game we should, could win? For those of us who are making it to the Garden on a potentially cold wintery day...........let's hope the Johnnies get hot and light up the scoreboard. Think it will be close but we prevail 72 - 70.

I do not see many "W"s left which is fine with me watching our talented young kids. But this is possible and I would love to beat the arrogant Villanova team. Wonder how much love is pouring out of Rocky town toward the great Jay Wright?

all the best

Nova isn't big, and this is definitely a game we could win. It all depends on which SJU team shows up. Need to play less sloppy and for 40 minutes. We certainly can win. Will we win is a different story. Hope the players come out fired up.

Harrison needs to stop trying to do too much and start with his jumpshot again, not with his drives to the basket. Harkless needs to make his move to the basket quicker and with without hesitation before the double arrives. We need Phil to play under control. We also need Gife down low to battle with Yarou which I think he's capable of. This is a winnable game, but we have to play under control on offense and tighten up the lackadaisical defense we played last week. Our D needs to play like we did vs Providence, with energy and without Leaving our feet.

72? Are you also predicting a 4-OT game? ;)

Key is going to be not letting Wayns get penetration against the zone which is what Nova thrives on. No one on their team has shown a consistent ability to knock down the three this year.

KenPom gives St.John's a 34% chance of winning and forecasts a Villanova win 73-68.

KenPom is not infallible. I have seen Villanova play a couple of time this season and I believe that they play soft.

This is a winnable game for St.John's.

I don't care about the final score, I only want to see how these kids will respond after what might have been the most disappointing game of their college careers. It will tell us a lot more than the score will.

I couldn't agree more. With each game our freshman get more experience and growth. All I want to see is a well played game. They can't fall into a funk with their shooting and limit the turnovers.

Really hope somebody spoke to the team and they come out fired up and aggressive. Not too concerned if we win or not.

But confidence and improvement in our offensive sets is what I'm looking for. Suspect we'll see a lot of zone again, so at this point we should be able to start showing some signs of life against it.

Agree. Like many on these posts, who cares about wins and scores. The kids are young. The kids are fatigued. They're shorthanded etc. but they are talented, gaining experience, and will be joined by other talented players. The future continues to be quite bright.

Villanova seems doable and I hope V goes back to P with a loss. :silly:

Despite the potential poor weather, my son and I will take the LIRR and see the game; will be our first and only game this season and I thank a win is possible and always love to beat teams that have been taking it to us this past decade.

all the best

By the way I asked this before and do not know if I got a response: who's the most likely to give us 10 or more points tomorrow or in any game (to complement the big three)?

We are winning this one. We are also beating Pitt. Those are 2 programs that we havent exactly counted on beating the last several years that I am expecting victories against.

At least optimism prevails - Professor Marvel, like ZanMan, sees a victory and tells Dorothy to take the points (assuming we are the underdog); whether or not the team does win, however, only the shadow knows for sure - I hope we take this game!

For my money it's Dom. I'm waiting for his breakout game. Think he has a big one in him this year.

Agree with most posters. This is a winnable game, but one that Nova must have to keep season hopes alive. Wouldn't be surprised with a win, but figure that Nova comes out on top this time.

I believe he had an excellent game against Connu.

This game better be on TV! I'm snowed in and won't be making to down to the Garden today. :(

Let's Go Johnnies!

I'm stuck in PA today as well and had to cancel my wekend in the city for the game. Both teams matchup well in terms of size and whenever that seems to happen I think Gift plays well. I'm really split on this one but I think Nova may win. This team has definitely hit a wall and I hope they burst through it soon.
