Nova Fans

I have lots of friends and family who are fantastic Nova fans. They are not obnoxious at all.

Let's face it, the school is great, they have a lot to be proud of. The criticism, if you call it that, of which I've heard is the wine and cheese fans applaud with the golfer's clap and aren't boisterous enough. I've heard that criticism of our fan base too.

In hindsight, I was so unhappy at yesterday's game, I overdid the criticism of the Villanova fans around me, using one episode and extrapolating is never a good thing, right Donald?

The way your posts evolved, it appears as if Otis and Beast of the East made you an offer you couldn't refuse.

Yesterday I sat with Nova fans all around me, all strangers to me. They were classy, didn't gloat, and a few even commented that it was good to see Mullin back at St. John's and that the team would get better under him. Meanwhile, during the second half of the SH game, a couple of their fans (guys in their late 20s or so who were obviously sloshed by then) were screaming out an endless stream of the most vulgar obscenities until a group of Nova fans told them to shut up and show some respect for the kids and women in the stands. Then again, there was a sizable number of obnoxious drunks in the Garden by that time.

I agree Villanova tends to run up the score on their opponents.

However, he only plays 7 guys and the rest of the bench is mostly walk ons. He does not recruit heavy.
Secondly, he is doing what he feels is necessary to get his team ready to win in the end. That is his right. He may change his philosophy one day if somebody were to get injured in the last minute or two but as of now that is fine.

that should just give our staff and players the motivation to continue working hard so we can do that to them one day.

Not excusing running up scores, but Nova bench is short, exacerbated by loss of Omari Spellman, another physical big to contend with next year, due to ineligibility & Phil Booth, a solid guard injured for most of season.

"Sizable number of drunks in the Garden by that time" ... and that's without Yukon. Reminds us of another quality they bring to the table.

My only issue was with him bringing DiVencenso back INTO the game at the 3:20 mark. No need for that, IMO.

Not even a starter. But I agree, he should have put in the ball boy. They probably still would have lengthened the lead.

To be completely fair, I root for Villanova at most 363 days per year and this season one less than that. When we play them, they are Gtown, UConn, Syracuse, and I hate them as much as anyone.

The Nova crew is nothing more than a bunch of front runners. One fat middle aged guy had his green St Paddy Penn State shirt with his Villanova cap on. Around me yesterday they were to busy drinking beer and figuring out where they were going to dinner yesterday night. Of course I wanted to eat my St Johns hat as our team gave us nothing to cheer for.

Tbh, the 2 million or so new yorkers who light up when st johns puts a great team on the floor are front runners too. There are only about 5 or 6 thousand of us in the nyc area who make it to most games, and im guessing 3000 season ticket holders. If we ever return to the top 10 and stay there for a season we will see tons of dormant fans filling the garden
