Norvelle Pelle to Iona according to Zags

Cluess added another troubled player with a checkered past with the addition of Tre Bowman who was thrown off of the Penn State team before moving on to Texas Southern before being warmly welcomed by Cluess.
True, but Cluess can be really good for the guys hitting some bumps in their collegiate road. Despite the free wheeling style of play, most know he's pretty hard nosed when it comes to doing things the right way. With a little bit of steering, Cluess can guide Bowman, Norvel, etc., with a steadying hand.

The thing is, these are more high maintenance student athletes. The staff and Iona Admin better be watching and helping these guys to the max. Norvel's going to need a tutor to help him focus on whatever task is at hand.

My guess is the kids brother is pumping his head with tales of one and done and the kid never steps into a classroom

Hey, who can resist the allure of New Rochelle? One of America's showcases. (Just ask Rob and Laura Petri.)

Pelle has marched to the beat of a different drum but he has great potential and I wish him the best of luck.

Hopefully it will be a good fit for the kid, for Iona, and for Tim Cluess.

I'm close by I can swing by and pick you up season tickets like those Hall tickets you got a few years ago :)

It is almost like some people are trying to synchronize his first name NorvELLE with his last name P-ELLE.

People do realize his first name is NORVEL not NORVELLE...

i wonder how the ncaa allows kids to be be eligible in some schools and not others. good luck to him. i hope he isn't sitting around ames wondering where everyone went.

Iona had better hurry and get his signature. If the Nerlens Noel investigation goes anywhere, Calipari may be looking for a last minute replacement.

I don't understand.

He wasn't cleared at SJU because he didn't have enough qualifying courses completed.

The assumption here is that over the last year he was able to come close to completing them as the Zags article said he was finishing up online courses.

People seem to think that his other favored destinations for the coming season, SD St and UNLV, walked away from him because he wasn't going to qualify. In truth I bet he doesn't know if he's qualified yet but he really can't wait any longer. If he doesn't qualify he'll end up at a JC no doubt since he and his handler don't seem patient enough to sit a year.

His "handler" should be charged with "malpractice".

Is this like "when did you stop beating your wife?" :) I am not now, nor have I ever been, a season ticket holder to any other college athletic program other than SJU hoops (and JHU lax).

I think you are picking up bad habits in the new job. :silly:

Surprise, surprise...Pelle hasn't been cleared by the NCAA, so he won't play until Dec. at the earliest according to Zagshttp://www.zagsblog.com/2012/09/14/iona-still-waiting-on-norvel-pelle/#more-79615

I find it interesting that Zags lists him as 7 feet tall, yet Pelle's own delirious "this is the next KD" brother says he's 6'11". I suspect his brother Is even stretching his height by an inch or two.

Thanks for the update jnaw17 and you are correct there really is no surprise that he is ineligible, the shocker would be if he was cleared to play.
I am thrilled the staff did not waste any more time or money on this kid and went in a different direction and brought in Obekpa, Sanchez and Jones up front as opposed to waiting on the never never plan for this kid.
